Failure Is Not Final

Failure Is Not Final PDF Author: Eric Mansfield MD MPH
Publisher: WestBow Press
ISBN: 166425465X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 97

Book Description
Have you ever done something that was so horrible that you truly have no excuses? A simple “bless your heart” won’t cut it, and the all-encompassing Christian Hail Mary phrase that covers a multitude of sins, “The Lord knows my heart,” just won’t do. Not for this time. You can wax poetic. You dropped the ball at the five-yard line, you didn’t live up to your expectations, and you fell flat. Best of all, you’re only human. But when you look at the aftermath of your decisions, it looks like a battlefield of the emotionally and sometimes physically wounded. There are no excuses. We knew better. We saw the trouble coming, and we just couldn’t step away. We got caught up in our selfishness, caught up in fleeting excitement, and caught up in minutes of recklessness that have left a lifetime of “I wish I hadn’ts.” When you peel off the weak excuses, the tissue-paper pride, the guilt, anger, and shame, “I messed up,” without just flat-out cussing, sums it up. Now what will you do?

Blessed Broken Given

Blessed Broken Given PDF Author: Glenn Packiam
Publisher: Multnomah
ISBN: 052565075X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 226

Book Description
An invitation to find beauty and meaning in the ordinary and imperfect aspects of your life; not as a call to settle for less, but rather as a way to mysteriously participate in God's power and purpose. Glenn Packiam wants to empower readers to find great joy, purpose, and passion in their daily living. While bread may be one of the most common items on our dinner tables, Jesus chose to take it at the Last Supper and invest deep, wonderful, and transcendent meaning in it. Like the bread that was blessed, broken, and given; readers will see how God uses ordinary experiences to cultivate their mission and their brokenness to bring healing to the world. The ordinary is not the enemy; it is the means by which God accomplishes the miraculous. Through clear biblical teaching and practical steps, Packiam leads the reader into a more purposeful, directed, hopeful future.

God at Work

God at Work PDF Author: Gene Edward Veith Jr.
Publisher: Crossway
ISBN: 143351608X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 178

Book Description
When you understand it properly, the doctrine of vocation—"doing everything for God's glory"—is not a platitude or an outdated notion. This principle that we vaguely apply to our lives and our work is actually the key to Christian ethics, to influencing our culture for Christ, and to infusing our ordinary, everyday lives with the presence of God. For when we realize that the "mundane" activities that consume most of our time are "God's hiding places," our perspective changes. Culture expert Gene Veith unpacks the biblical, Reformation teaching about the doctrine of vocation, emphasizing not what we should specifically do with our time or what careers we are called to, but what God does in and through our callings—even within the home. In each task He has given us—in our workplaces and families, our churches and society—God Himself is at work. Veith guides you to discover God's purpose and calling in those seemingly ordinary areas by providing you with a spiritual framework for thinking about such issues and for acting upon them with a changed perspective.

Blessed

Blessed PDF Author: Kate Bowler
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0199985855
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 336

Book Description
How have millions of American Christians come to measure spiritual progress in terms of their financial status and physical well-being? How has the movement variously called Word of Faith, Health and Wealth, Name It and Claim It, or simply prosperity gospel come to dominate much of our contemporary religious landscape? Kate Bowler's Blessed is the first book to fully explore the origins, unifying themes, and major figures of a burgeoning movement that now claims millions of followers in America. Bowler traces the roots of the prosperity gospel: from the touring mesmerists, metaphysical sages, pentecostal healers, business oracles, and princely prophets of the early 20th century; through mid-century positive thinkers like Norman Vincent Peale and revivalists like Oral Roberts and Kenneth Hagin; to today's hugely successful prosperity preachers. Bowler focuses on such contemporary figures as Creflo Dollar, pastor of Atlanta's 30,000-member World Changers Church International; Joel Osteen, known as "the smiling preacher," with a weekly audience of seven million; T. D. Jakes, named by Time magazine one of America's most influential new religious leaders; Joyce Meyer, evangelist and women's empowerment guru; and many others. At almost any moment, day or night, the American public can tune in to these preachers-on TV, radio, podcasts, and in their megachurches-to hear the message that God desires to bless them with wealth and health. Bowler offers an interpretive framework for scholars and general readers alike to understand the diverse expressions of Christian abundance as a cohesive movement bound by shared understandings and common goals.

When We Have Failed--What Next?

When We Have Failed--What Next? PDF Author: K. P. Yohannan
Publisher: Gfa Books
ISBN: 9781595890351
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 92

Book Description
We all have failed. “All have sinned,” says the Bible, leaving no one exempt. Yet we cringe at the very thought of our own failure—especially a “big” one. We try to cover it up and hide it from the world—particularly from those closest to us. But we cannot hide it from ourselves and inevitably, along with the actual failure comes the awful sting of regret, disappointment and feelings of worthlessness. As our world, whether publicly or privately, crumbles around us, we then face the next question: “What next?” We wonder how there can be a “next,” because we feel that our life is over or that we are destined to remain in our same rut of failure forever. But author K.P. Yohannan boldly declares that nothing could be further from the truth! In When We Have Failed—What Next?, the president of Gospel for Asia graciously takes us on a journey from our darkest failure toward a bright and hopeful future. He again and again depicts God’s unfailing love for us and His marvelous ability to bring out His very best for our lives, especially in the midst of our failure. In a key passage from a book filled with profound thoughts, Dr. Yohannan declares: “It’s not the size of our sin that determines whether or not we recover from a fall. It’s our response. How we deal with our failure determines our future.” Citing numerous real-life examples, this little booklet reminds those in the midst of the battle that “God desires to make your life into something beautiful and bring about His purposes through your failure.” This is a book that makes no compromise with sin, but that encourages all of us to believe in God’s grace—and in His purpose for our lives—and to look up, for the best is truly yet to come.

Broken for the Blessing

Broken for the Blessing PDF Author: Minister Paul Hillman
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 166415969X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 79

Book Description
“For his anger endureth but for a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning” (Ps. 30:5, KJV). So is Broken for a Blessing: It is from a weeping night to a joyful morning—from brokenness to restoration. At some point, one will face some kind of turmoil, storm, or darkness. However, each of these can also be seen as a developing process. Like bread when it is broken: whenever a bread is broken: it meant, someone is getting ready to eat. This is the same from hurting to healing. God breaks you to heal you or turn you into a better person. This is what Broken for a Blessing is about. In this book, the author wrote ten chapters as he considers the number 10 to be significant. He talks about events that were written about in the Bible and uses the number as a metaphor of one’s destiny. He also uses the number 10 as a metaphor in his own life journey. When he was ten years old, he played a game called the ten steps to Zion. In the game, each of the competitors would hold a Bible. The judge would say “Sword in hand” and then give the competitors a Bible verse, and whoever found it first would take a step. The game would end when a player reached the tenth bench. The author would always be the one who would reach the tenth bench first. In addition, the author started his life in the United States with ten dollars; he actually started with a hundred dollars, but he used ninety dollars of that amount just to pay his rent. He was married for ten years before he suffered a broken marriage. It was during his time of brokenness and isolation when God revealed the book in his spirit, Broken for a Blessing. This book will inspire you and will let you know that there’s hope and a purpose for you. You should not get bitter when you are broken; rather, you should understand that you are going through to make yourself better. Whatever comes to break you should be seen as something that is coming to make you. There’s a process in the making and a process in becoming. This is not the time for you to break down; it’s the time for you to break through.
