Book Description
Binary Matrixing introduces the Martial Arts as a science. It is the single most important book in the history of the Martial Arts, as it opens the door to all martial arts, and moves the student directly towards the realization that all martial arts are one. The yin yang symbol, most people believe, is a mystical thing that you will someday understand, or if you buy into theories like 'sun and moon, ' or 'male and female, ' or any other number of mystical definitions, then it is simply a mysticism, a 'mystery, ' reserved for somebody smarter. But Binary Matrixing defines the yin yang in a definitive and scientific manner. This definition results in the Martial Arts being considered a science. Once somebody understands the yin yang, which is to say they understand the actual truth of the martial arts, they will be able to see how the martial arts 'grow, ' how they develop from one art into the next. The Martial Arts then become a simple technology requiring as much thought as 'one, two, three....' Finally, understanding the truth of the martial arts, and how they actually develop, one will be enlightened. Enlightenment is often thought of as a 'lightening stroke, ' a realization that changes the way one views life. And it can be that way. More important, however, are the thousand and one 'little things' that make sense out of life, that make life into a single, absorbable subject. As stated, this book is the most important book in the history of the martial arts. It will elevate the reader to an entirely different viewpoint. It is not, however, for everyone. If you believe the martial arts are mystical, if you think that people can't understand a body of knowledge without suffering for twenty years, if you believe that people must learn a foreign language to learn the martial arts, or any other long, laborious and intricate theory, then this book is not for you. This book was written in the belief that the truth is simple, and that studying the truth of the martial arts will make the arts easy to understand, easy to remember, and intuitive to do. About the author: Al Case walked into his first Martial Arts dojo in 1967. He has studied Kenpo, Karate, Wing Chun, Aikido, Ton Toi Northern Shaolin, Fut Ga Southern Shaolin, Pa Kua Chang, Tai Chi Chuan, and more. He was a writer for the martial arts magazines and had his own column in Inside Karate. He is the originator of Matrixing Technology and Neutronic Philosophy.

The Martial Arts Cinema of the Chinese Diaspora

The Martial Arts Cinema of the Chinese Diaspora PDF Author: Kin-Yan Szeto
Publisher: SIU Press
ISBN: 0809386208
Category : Performing Arts
Languages : en
Pages : 185

Book Description
In The Martial Arts Cinema of the Chinese Diaspora, Kin-Yan Szeto critically examines three of the most internationally famous martial arts film artists to arise out of the Chinese diaspora and travel far from their homelands to find commercial success in the world at large: Ang Lee, John Woo, and Jackie Chan. Positing the idea that these filmmakers' success is evidence of a "cosmopolitical awareness" arising from their cross-cultural ideological engagements and geopolitical displacements, Szeto demonstrates how this unique perspective allows these three filmmakers to develop and act in the transnational environment of media production, distribution, and consumption. Beginning with a historical retrospective on Chinese martial arts films as a diasporic film genre and the transnational styles and ideologies of the filmmakers themselves, Szeto uses case studies to explore in depth how the forces of colonialism, Chinese nationalism, and Western imperialism shaped the identities and work of Lee, Woo, and Chan. Addressed in the volume is the groundbreaking martial arts swordplay film that achieves global success-Ang Lee's Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon- and its revelations about Hollywood representations of Asians, as well as concepts of male and female masculinity in the swordplay film tradition. Also investigated is the invigoration of contemporary gangster, thriller, and war films by John Woo, whose combination of artistic and historical contexts has contributed to his global success. Szeto then dissects Chan's mimetic representation of masculinity in his films, and the influences of his Chinese theater and martial arts training on his work. Szeto outlines the similarities and differences between the three artists' films, especially their treatments of gender, sexuality, and power. She concludes by analyzing their films as metaphors for their working conditions in the Chinese diaspora and Hollywood, and demonstrating how through their works, Lee, Woo, and Chan communicate not only with the rest of the world but also with each other. Far from a book simply about three filmmakers, The Martial Arts Cinema of the Chinese Diaspora investigates the transnational nature of films, the geopolitics of culture and race, and the depths of masculinity and power in movies. Szeto's interdisciplinary approach calls for nothing less than a paradigm shift in the study of Chinese diasporic filmmakers and the embodiment of cosmopolitical perspectives in the martial arts genre.

Book Description
This second volume in the Matrixing Karate Series, 'Green Belt, ' shows how to create and use a Matrix in Karate. This information will change the way people view Karate and any other martial art they may wish to apply a matrix to. About the Matrixing Karate Series: Matrixing is the first and only true science of the martial arts. Eastern mysticism has been rendered by western logic, and the result is a form of Karate that is quick, easy, precise, and works like a charm. One of the main principles of Matrixing is that it is easy to learn, thus it is easy to remember, and therefore easy to use. In a word, it is the fastest way to achieve an intuitive state in the martial arts in the world. Equally important, Matrixing aligns the data of any martial art. Simply use the template of Matrix Karate, plug ANY martial art into it, and that martial art will become logical. Which is to say, in essence, Matrix Karate will 'fix' any martial art. Forms will become understandable and begin to adhere to the logic of matrixing. Techniques will become understandable and workable, and and entire arts will start to align and make sense. About the Author: Al Case began studying Karate in 1967. He studied a variety of martial arts, and became a writer for the martial arts magazines in 1981. Currently, he is living on a mountain top in southern California where he is building a martial arts temple.
