Book Description
New Saucerian Press proudly presents the original first edition of the "lost" ufological classic, "Visitors From Lanulos!" Initially published in 1971, this book became perhaps the rarest "contactee" book ever. Prior to its reissue, there were only a half-dozen copies remaining in the world's library system, with the rest trading for thousands of dollars each. Woodrow Derenberger, the author of the book, claimed to have had a series of strange adventures beginning on November 2nd, 1966. While driving home from Parkersburg, West Virginia to his suburban home in Mineral Wells, he suddenly found the highway blocked by a large gray object. Someone emerged from the object and walked to the passenger side window of his car. The man introduced himself as "a searcher," and offered words of comfort to Derenberger. After noting that he would come again, the "spaceman," who called himself "Indrid Cold," stepped back into the object and it rose out of sight. Derenberger went home and told his story to his wife. He then called the police and the press. Soon after, other witnesses came forward to say that they, too, had seen Cold talking to Derenberger by the side of the road. (In time, several locals would have their own encounters with Cold.) Two days later while driving in his car, Derenberger began to receive telepathic communications from Cold, who described himself as from the "galaxy of Ganymede." Cold also supplied some information about his life, including the observation that people on his planet (Lanulos) lived to be 125 to 175 of our Earth years. Over the next weeks, other stories would accumulate that substantiated other parts of Derenberger's story, including independent UFO sightings on November 4th. An initial investigation concluded that Derenberger was not a fraud or hoaxer, and was mentally and psychologically sound. Throughout this period, Derenberger's direct contacts with Indrid Cold continued. He learned much about Cold's people and their desire for friendly contact. In 1967, Cold took Derenberger for a ride in his spaceship. Strangely, they visited the oilfields of Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as Cold's lush, jungle planet, which was populated by beautiful humanoids wearing no clothes. Derenberger told his story frequently over the next few years, and his story was given extended treatment by Fortean researcher John A. Keel, who wrote the Foreword to the book. Through the 1980s, Derenberger assumed a low profile, though he continued to correspond with a small group of people who believed his accounts. In fact, he forwarded many letters from Cold to these fans. (Cold actually lived in a house in Midway, West Virginia before moving to Cleveland in the 1980s.) In the years since, other evidence has been discovered pointing to Cold's possible intelligence connections, and the fact that he may have actually piloted an early aerial drone designed by the U.S. military. Was there an underground flying saucer manufacturing plant near Woody's home, perhaps in Point Pleasant, home of the "Mothman?" Were Cold and his associates trying to bamboozle locals into thinking the military drones were from outer space? Or were they really interdimensional "Men in Black" or "spacemen?" Check out this fascinating read for clues both astounding and confounding.

The Night the Earth Stood Still: the Strange Case of Indrid Cold

The Night the Earth Stood Still: the Strange Case of Indrid Cold PDF Author: Andrew Colvin
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 130

Book Description
In "The Night the Earth Stood Still: The Strange Case of Indrid Cold," legendary fringe publisher and author, Gray Barker, continues his "Strange Case" series by looking at one of the most controversial ufological figures of all time: Indrid Cold. Barker's colorful writing influenced the plotlines of shows like Star Trek, Futurama, The X-Files, Twin Peaks, The Outer Limits, The Jetsons, Lost in Space, and The Twilight Zone. Shuttling between his Manhattan publishing office and his secluded cabin deep in the hills of his home state of West Virginia, the prolific Barker single-handedly kept public interest focused on UFOs during it leanest years, and introduced many themes still discussed by today's paranormal and conspiracy researchers: the Roswell UFO, Men in Black, Ancient Aliens, Nazi UFOs, the Philadelphia Experiment, the Flatwoods Monster, Mothman, MJ-12, secret underground bases, little green men, and the Maury Island Incident. Was Indrid Cold a spaceman, Man in Black, interdimensional traveler, or simply a hoaxer? There is no doubt he was real, as he made contact with hundreds of people. Drawing on interviews with Cold's primary contacts, as well as with "The Mothman Prophecies" author, John A. Keel, Barker looks at the factors that turned the elusive Indrid Cold into such a durable legend. Features an extended Epilogue by the editor, Andy Colvin. "One of my favorite UFO writers..." -David Bowie "A fascinating fellow..." -John Lennon "I remember [Barker's] work fondly..." -Leonard Nimoy

Book Description
In DIMENSIONS, the first volume of a trilogy, Dr. Jacques Vallee reexamines the historical record that led to the modern UFO phenomenon and to the belief in alien contact. He then tackles the enigma of abduction reports, which come from various times and various countries, as well as the psychic and spiritual components of the contact experience. In the last portion of the book, he notes the factors that inhibit research into the phenomenon--the triple coverup and political motivations--and concludes that the extraterrestrial theory is simply not strange enough to explain the facts.

Flying Saucer to the Center of Your Mind: Selected Writings of John A. Keel PDF Author: John Keel

Pages : 284

Book Description
New Saucerian proudly presents "Flying Saucer to the Center of Your Mind," a collection of magazine articles and lectures by John Keel, the man many consider to have been the 20th Century's premiere investigator of all things unusual and "Fortean." Many of the articles in this anthology and its companion volumes, "The Outer Limits of the Twilight Zone" and "Searching For the String," were revolutionary, and explored ideas popularized in Keel's classic books. Written in Keel's engaging trademark style, they are sure to delight fans with their fresh, unparalleled insights into the nature of reality. In these pages, John Keel displays the keen observational skills and investigative tenacity that made him the enfant terrible of ufology for decades. In this no-holds-barred analysis - some of which was written almost 50 years ago - Keel shreds most of the sacred-cow beliefs still held by many in ufological and "cryptozoological" circles today, presenting theories so radical that they are only now becoming accepted: the "4-D" or "interdimensional" thesis; the "breakaway civilization" theory; the possible role of "ancient aliens" in human history; the synthetic and/or hallucinatory nature of many "alien abduction" and "Men in Black" encounters; the role of spy agencies in paranormal research; and the alarming connection between UFOs, animal mutilations, and attacks on unsuspecting humans. In short, "Flying Saucer to the Center of Your Mind" is witty, incisive, impassioned, and prescient, and cohesively brings Keel's message into focus in a way that perhaps no other book has. This 2013 edition features illuminating forewords by noted writers Gray Barker and Tessa B. Dick (widow of science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick), as well as an introduction by the editor, Andy Colvin (author of "The Mothman's Photographer" and "Mothman Speaks"). Beyond Belief

Beyond Belief PDF Author: Martin Bridgstock
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139482548
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 215

Book Description
Whether ghosts, astrology or ESP, up to 80 per cent of the population believes in one or more aspects of the paranormal. Such beliefs are entertaining, and it is tempting to think of them as harmless. However, there is mounting evidence that paranormal beliefs can be dangerous - cases of children dying because parents rejected orthodox medicine in favour of alternative remedies, and 'psychics' who trade on the grief of the bereaved for personal profit and gain. Expenditure on the paranormal runs into billions of dollars each year. In Beyond Belief: Skepticism, Science and the Paranormal Martin Bridgstock provides an integrated understanding of what an evidence-based approach to the paranormal - a skeptical approach - involves, and why it is necessary. Bridgstock does not set out to show that all paranormal claims are necessarily false, but he does suggest that we all need the analytical ability and critical thinking skills to seek and assess the evidence for paranormal claims.
