Bayesian Methodology for Verifying Recommendations to Minimize Asphalt Pavement Distress
Author:
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Bayesian statistical decision theory
Languages : en
Pages : 120
Book Description
"The final report for NCHRP Project 9-4A, 'Bayesian Methodology for Verifying Recommendations to Minimize Asphalt Pavement Distress, ' describes the development of a Bayesian methodology to quantify multiple regression models from personal interviews with experienced individuals, and combining the information with measured data. Pilot implementation of the methodology was conducted in six states -- Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, Utah, and Virginia -- to investigate the influence of designer-controlled variables on the occurrence of fatigue cracking in asphaltic concrete pavements ... For persons interested in more details concerning information obtained from the states and the assessors, a series of state reports have been prepared and are included in this supplemental report"--Preface.

Risk Consideration when Determining Bank Protection Requirements
Author:
Publisher: PIANC
ISBN: 2872230025
Category : Marine terminals
Languages : en
Pages : 106
Book Description
"The available data on berthing speeds dates back to the 1970s and was derived from a limited number of vessels. With a change in naval architecture the dimensions of vessels are now much larger. Many of these vessels are manoeuvred by highly powered tugboats or have large bow thrusters or stern thrusters adding to the manoeuvrability. Additionally portable navigation aids, communication tools and other developments also assist during the berthing procedure of a vessel. Based on these developments there was a need to investigate and update the knowledge of the actual berthing velocities exhibited in ports around the world. This design parameter has the greatest influence on the berthing energy and subsequent fender systems. Consequently, a great deal of data on berthing velocities was collected and a proposal of design values was made by statistically examination of the available data."--Introduction
