Book Description
We present experimental results on b-hadron mass measurements and b-meson oscillations based on integrated luminosity of 250 to 450 pb{sup -1} of p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.98 TeV by the CDF and D0 collaborations at the TeVatron. The masses of b-hadrons have been measured precisely by the CDF collaboration in decays containing a J/{psi}. A blind search of the decay mode B{sub c} {yields} J/{psi}{pi}{sup +} resulted in a peak of 18.9 {+-} 5.4 candidates at a mass value of 6287.0 {+-} 4.5 {+-} 1.1 MeV/c{sup 2}. A new limit has been set to the decay B{sub d, s} {yields} {mu}{sup +}{mu}{sup -}. Both the CDF and D0 collaborations are in the position to put a limit on the frequency of the B{sub s} oscillations. D0 reports {Delta}m{sub s}> 5.0 ps{sup -1}.

Electroweak and B Physics Results from the Fermilab Tevatron Collider

Electroweak and B Physics Results from the Fermilab Tevatron Collider PDF Author:

Book Description
This writeup is an introduction to some of the experimental issues involved in performing electroweak and b physics measurements at the Fermilab Tevatron. In the electroweak sector, we discuss W and Z boson cross section measurements as well as the measurement of the mass of the W boson. For b physics, we discuss measurements of B°/{bar B}° mixing and CP violation. This paper is geared towards nonexperts who are interested in understanding some of the issues and motivations for these measurements and how the measurements are carried out.

The current status of Run II at the Tevatron is covered. Upgrades of both the CDF and D0 detectors are presented, along with many illustrations of the performance and potential for significant physics measurements.

B-lifetime Measurements at the Tevatron

Book Description
During the run period from May 1992 to begin of June 1993 the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) has recorded [approx] 21.4 pb[sup [minus]1] of p[anti p] collider data at [radical]s = 1.8 TeV. For this run the detector had been upgraded which significantly enhanced its b-physics capabilities. The upgrades include a high precision Silicon VerteX detector (SVX) which enables CDF to reconstruct the decay vertex and decay length of b-hadrons. In this article the author reports on several measurements of the lifetime of b-flavored hadrons. The determination of the average b-lifetime using inclusive J/[psi]'s, the measurement of the B[sup [+-]] and B[sup 0] lifetimes by reconstructing exclusive final states including a J/[psi] or [psi](2S) and a measurement of the B[sub s][sup 0] meson lifetime exploiting the decay: B[sub s] [yields] l[nu]D[sub s][sup +] [yields] l[nu][phi][pi][sup +] [yields] l[nu]K[sup +]K[sup [minus]][pi][sup +].

Pages : 11

Book Description
Precision B-physics results from the CDF and DO Collaborations based on data collected during the Tevatron 1992-96 run are presented. In particular we discuss the measurement of B hadron lifetimes, and B° - {anti B}° mixing results obtained using time- evolution analyses. Perspectives for the next Tevatron run, starting in 1999, are also reported.

B States at the Tevatron

Pages : 6

Book Description
The CDF and D0 experiments have produced a wealth of heavy flavor physics results since the beginning of RunII of the Fermilab Tevatron. They review recent measurements of B hadron states including excited B states (B**, B{sub s}**) and the B{sub c} meson. They also summarize the discoveries of the [Sigma]{sub b} baryon states and the [Xi]{sub b}− baryon.

Book Description
Both CDF and D0 experiments have been searching for evidence of physics beyond the standard model (SM) using the Tevatron p{bar p} collider at Fermilab. We report on recent searches in the B flavor sector, especially decays via flavor changing neutral current processes (FCNC), B{sub (s)}° → e?− and B{sub s}° →?+?−, at the Tevatron.

Recent Tevatron Results on B Quark Production

Recent Tevatron Results on B Quark Production PDF Author:

Book Description
A number of recent B physics results from the CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider is reported. Measurements of open b quark production cross section in the central and forward rapidity regions in p{anti p} interactions at √s = 1800 GeV are presented. The measurements are used to evaluate the rapidity dependence of b quark production. We also report recent results on correlated b {anti b} production: a measurement of b {anti b} angular correlations using dimuon triggers (D0) and the first direct measurement of b {anti b} rapidity correlations (CDF). The results from the various measurements are compared with the next-to-leading order QCD predictions. Finally, a measurement by CDF of the polarization of [psi](2S) mesons is compared with the predictions of the Color Octet Model.

Book Description
The Tevatron, with p{bar p} collisions at (square root)s = 1.96 TeV, can produce all flavors of B hadrons and allows for unprecedented studies in the B physics sector. The CDF and D0 collaborations have more than 5 fb−1 of data recorded. I present here a selection of recent results on the masses, lifetimes and mixings of B hadrons using between 1.0 and 2.8 fb−1 of data.

Book Description
The CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron pp collider established that extensive and detailed exploration of the b-quark dynamics is possible in hadron collisions, with results competitive and supplementary to B-factories. In this paper we review the current state of Tevatron's heavy flavor measurements considering two main categories: searches for non standard model physics (results on rare decays and CP-violation) and determinations of standard model parameters (annihilation in B 2!hh− decays and? angle measurement through B 2!DK modes).
