If in "refinancing" a debt that it has previously assigned, along with the mortgage, to another entity, the mortgagee settles or satisfies the assigned debt, mortgage registration fees would be due upon filing the "new" mortgage of record. The result is the same even if the assignee of the original debt is the parent corporation of the assignor.
