Book Description
"This book will be useful for all physicians involved in cardiac imaging, whether they are in radiology, nuclear medicine, or cardiology, and should be mandatory for physicians engaged in gated cardiac SPECT. It is recommended without reservation." – from a review of the first edition in Radiology With gated cardiac SPECT now firmly established for the management of the cardiac patient, Drs. Germano and Berman bring you completely up to date with the multiple clinical applications as well as the recent technical developments of the modality. Clinical Gated Cardiac SPECT, Second Edition: covers all the available protocols describes a systematic approach for interpretation and reporting provides guidance for the recognition of artifacts includes flowcharts on the management of patients The relationship of gated cardiac SPECT to PET, MRI and CT is explored in separate chapters devoted to each modality. This book is essential reading for all clinicians involved in cardiac imaging.

Analysis and Assessment of Cardiovascular Function

Analysis and Assessment of Cardiovascular Function PDF Author: Gary M. Drzewiecki
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 146121744X
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 390

Book Description
The objective of this book is to provide the researcher and clinician with the recent developments in the analysis and assessment of cardiovascular func tion. The chapters are organized into sections that correspond with the various anatomical levels of the cardiovascular system. To a large extent, recent focus on the cardiovascular system function has been directed at the molecular level to the near exclusion of the tissue and organ function. While this may be useful in developing new therapeutic drugs, it does not aid the cardiologist or surgeon, who routinely deal with patient symptoms. This book integrates the micro-level and organ-level function so that new infor mation may be assimilated into the cardiovascular system as a whole. Within each section, the chapters have been arranged to progress from recent theoretical developments, to experimental research, and finally to clinical applications. This approach facilitates the timely transfer of infor mation from basic research to the clinic. The strength of the analytical approach will be evident to the reader. The theoretical analysis offers guidance to experimental design and, in some cases, offers solutions where measurements are as yet unattainable. In moving from newly attained knowledge to clinical practice, this book emphasizes the noninvasive meth in the future as technological advances ods. Such methods are desirable occur and the trend towards early preventive diagnosis is sought. What follows are highlights of new developments covered in each section of the book.

Sex-Specific Analysis of Cardiovascular Function

Sex-Specific Analysis of Cardiovascular Function PDF Author: Peter L. M. Kerkhof
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 331977932X
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 734

Book Description
This book gathers together contributions from internationally renowned authors in the field of cardiovascular systems and provides crucial insight into the importance of sex- and gender-concepts during the analysis of patient data. This innovative title is the first to offer the elements necessary to consider sex-related properties in both clinical and basic studies regarding the heart and circulation on multiscale levels (i.e. molecular, cellular, electrophysiologically, neuroendocrine, immunoregulatory, organ, allometric, and modeling). Observed differences at (ultra)cellular and organ level are quantified, with focus on clinical relevance and implications for diagnosis and patient management. Since the cardiovascular system is of vital importance for all tissues, Sex-Specific Analysis of Cardiovascular Function is an essential source of information for clinicians, biologists, and biomedical investigators. The wide spectrum of differences described in this book will also act as an eye-opener and serve as a handbook for students, teachers, scientists and practitioners.

Fetal Cardiac Function

Fetal Cardiac Function PDF Author: E. Gratacós
Publisher: S. Karger AG (Switzerland)
ISBN: 9783318022186
Category : Fetal heart
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
Fetal echocardiography was initially used to detect structural anomalies, but has more recently also been proposed to assess fetal cardiac function. Functional echocardiography has been demonstrated to select high-risk populations and has been seen to have an effect on the outcome of several fetal conditions. Because of the small size and high heart rate and the restricted access away from the transducer, cardiovascular parameters should be validated but used with caution in the fetus. This special issue on fetal cardiac function is a collection of review and original articles showing several potential clinical and research applications of functional echocardiography in intrauterine growth restriction, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, congenital heart disease and aneuploides. The insights provided show that fetal cardiac function assessment is a promising tool that may soon be incorporated into clinical practice to diagnose, monitor or predict outcome in some fetal conditions. Therefore, this special issue on 'fetal cardiac function' provides valuable reading for clinicians and researchers in fetal medicine and cardiology who are interested in the fetal heart.
