This is an open access book. It has been our great honor to welcome all the participants to the 4th Asia-Pacific Management Research Conference was held in Surabaya, Indonesia, on May 18th–20th, 2022 as a hybrid conference (virtualy conference). I recalled formulating the concept and conducting this conference with the Research Center and Case Clearing House (RC-CCH) Team back in 2017. The conference encourages fresh and impactful studies that address the latest issues and topics, particularly in economics, management, business, and accounting. The forum particularly welcomes the discussion and sharing among research fellows in a semi-formal academic setting. As we reach the fourth conference, we are confident that we will maintain a contribution to the global literature. It is undeniable that the theme of the COVID-19 Pandemic is the main issue of this fourth conference, but rather than focusing on the misery, we look for models, technologies, and concepts that are beneficial for the economy and businesses to grow toward the new normal. This conference received 136 abstracts, of which 57 were accepted articles in Atlantis Proceeding.

Nigeria has a bold national vision of becoming one of the world s top 20 economies by 2020. However, despite being the 8th most populous country in the world, it ranks 41st in terms of GDP and 161st in terms of GDP per capita. Nigeria has long depended on oil for its exports and government revenues. This dependence has led to rent seeking and a reluctance to examine potential avenues for economic diversification. The authors of 'Knowledge, Productivity, and Innovation in Nigeria' believe that the goal of becoming a top-twenty economy can only be achieved if Nigeria makes the transition to a new economy rooted in the 21st century that harnesses the power of knowledge and avoids a static oil-based growth strategy. This book covers the strategic use of continuous improvement (CI) techniques for manufacturing performance improvement. It focuses primarily on strategies that can be adopted by small and middle-sized enterprises in manufacturing in order to meet the global challenges and competition. The book begins with an introduction to CI (or Kaizen), explaining different CI approaches and strategies. Chapter 2 offers a literature review of CI, examining conceptual frameworks, case studies, and surveys. Next, the book deals with the design of the study, detailing the work done in each phase along with the tools, techniques and models. Chapter 4 presents a detailed survey to determine the present status of continuous improvement strategies in the Indian manufacturing industry, to assess the important barriers that effect the implementation of CI strategies, and to also assess the role of key enablers leading to improve the performance of manufacturing operations. Chapter 5 is comprised of detailed case studies to further analyze the application of the discussed CI strategies. The purpose of Chapter 6 is to develop the relationship among the different identified most important barriers in implementing CI approach using interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and classify these barriers depending upon their driving and dependence power. Finally Chapter 7 provides conclusions, addresses potential limitations, and also looks to the future.
