Book Description
Neuroscience is saying we are energy, and consciousness is awareness of who we are and what our environment is. Awareness is consciousness that changes as we learn from experience. As we develop, consciousness in turn is changing our experience because the brain is plastic; it changes in response to awareness of self and environment. The question is, if we need to change experience, how do we do that? This book is about meditation as a tool to develop awareness to change experience. That occurs because of synchronicity of consciousness, experience, and plasticity of the brain. Meditation, as a personal art and neuroplastic exercise, is an internal technology of change. For this to happen, it needs to be understood as a process of the transformation of consciousness, an outcome of self-healing, and a method that connects the two. The method is meditation on goals. What is occurring through the process is the integration of reasoning with what was unconscious, intuition. We access intuition through mindfulness of goals as inspiration, the energy of intuition that is changing experience. As we self-heal there are different possibilities of meditation. Through self-healing, we achieve health and well-being. Through our empowerment and awareness of this occurring, we prevent mental illness. As we become aware of what has been causing change, vision is remembered. It has been forgotten but, the difference is that we are aware of it now. Narrative meditation is a method of visualization of goals. It is learned in stages on successively building on the method before. The state of meditation is a state of inspiration, of visualization of goals as experience. This makes meditation accessible. What makes it transformative is the healing of the aspects of self. What makes meditation inspirational is that vision is creating our experience.

Narrative Meditation

Narrative Meditation PDF Author: Terry Clancy
Publisher: Xlibris Corporation
ISBN: 1984503405
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 79

Book Description
This book is written for people interested in meditation. Narrative Meditation is based on nursing practice of the therapeutic use of self. Awareness of what the self is changes through experience and meditation. The journey is understanding what the self is. The quest is to use self to change experience. This book is about Narrative Meditation. It is learnt in three stages. The stages are deeper levels of meditation. Deeper levels of meditation are different levels of healing. Narrative Meditation is a method of self healing to maximise our potential for health, well being, and happiness. As a method it is a neuroplastic exercise of change in awareness, experience, and belief. Another narrative has been evolving through our stories of change; the remembering of identity as the self. The first objective of this book is understanding what the self is. The self is as a state of quantum consciousness of vision accessed through meditation and used as mindfulness of goals. Understanding is a change in awareness. The second is access to a deeper level of meditation. Meditation is accessed through the transformative vision. Understanding what the self is gives the transformative vision meaning as the state of meditation and purpose as healing as the transformative vision is remembered.

The Heartfulness Way

The Heartfulness Way PDF Author: Kamlesh D. Patel
Publisher: New Harbinger Publications
ISBN: 1684031362
Category : Body, Mind & Spirit
Languages : en
Pages : 225

Book Description
“A must-read for anyone interested in incorporating meditation into their lifestyle.” ––Sanjay Gupta, MD, chief medical correspondent for CNN Heartfulness is an ideal, a spiritual way of living by and from the heart that is inclusive of all ideologies, beliefs, and religions. In this heart-centered book, a student in conversation with his teacher, Kamlesh D. Patel—affectionately known as Daaji, the fourth and current spiritual guide of the century-old Heartfulness tradition—present a unique method of meditation with the power to facilitate an immediate, tangible spiritual experience, irrespective of a person’s faith. Our modern, fast-paced world can be an overwhelming place. Every day, we’re bombarded with messages telling us that in order to be happy, fulfilled, and worthy, we must be better, do more, and accumulate as much material wealth as possible. Most of us move through our busy lives with our minds full of these ideas, multitasking as we strive to navigate the responsibilities and expectations we must meet just to make it through the day. But what if there is another way? What if, rather than letting the busyness of life overtake our minds, we learn to be heartful instead? Based on Daaji’s own combination of approaches and practices for the modern seeker—which draws from the teachings of Sahaj Marg, meaning “Natural Path”—Heartfulness is a contemporized version of the ancient Indian practice of Raja Yoga, a tradition that enables the practitioner to realize the higher Self within. While many books describe refined states of being, The Heartfulness Way goes further, providing a pragmatic course to experience those states for oneself, which, per the book’s guiding principle, is “greater than knowledge.” Heartfulness meditation consists of four elements—relaxation, meditation, cleaning, and prayer—and illuminates the ancient, defining feature of yogic transmission (or pranahuti), the utilization of divine energy for spiritual growth and transformation. Using the method, detailed practices, tips, and practical philosophy offered in this book, you’ll reach new levels of attainment and learn to live a life more deeply connected to the values of the Heartfulness way—with acceptance, humility, compassion, empathy, and love.

Margery Kempe and Translations of the Flesh

Margery Kempe and Translations of the Flesh PDF Author: Karma Lochrie
Publisher: University of Pennsylvania Press
ISBN: 081220753X
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 264

Book Description
Selected by Choice magazine as an Outstanding Academic Book for 1999 Karma Lochrie demonstrates that women were associated not with the body but rather with the flesh, that disruptive aspect of body and soul which Augustine claimed was fissured with the Fall of Man. It is within this framework that she reads The Book of Margery Kempe, demonstrating the ways in which Kempe exploited the gendered ideologies of flesh and text through her controversial practices of writing, her inappropriate-seeming laughter, and the most notorious aspect of her mysticism, her "hysterical" weeping expressions of religious desire. Lochrie challenges prevailing scholarly assumptions of Kempe's illiteracy, her role in the writing of her book, her misunderstanding of mystical concepts, and the failure of her book to influence a reading community. In her work and her life, Kempe consistently crossed the barriers of those cultural taboos designed to exclude and silence her. Instead of viewing Kempe as marginal to the great mystical and literary traditions of the late Middle Ages, this study takes her seriously as a woman responding to the cultural constraints and exclusions of her time. Margery Kempe and Translations of the Flesh will be of interest to students and scholars of medieval studies, intellectual history, and feminist theory.
