Artificial Intelligence in Cyber Security: Impact and Implications
Author: Reza Montasari
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 3030880400
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 305
Book Description
The book provides a valuable reference for cyber security experts, digital forensic practitioners and network security professionals. In recent years, AI has gained substantial attention from researchers in both academia and industry, and as a result AI’s capabilities are constantly increasing at an extraordinary pace. AI is considered to be the Fourth Industrial Revolution or at least the next significant technological change after the evolution in mobile and cloud computing technologies. AI is a vehicle for improving the quality of our lives across every spectrum with a broad range of beneficial applications in various sectors. Notwithstanding its numerous beneficial use, AI simultaneously poses numerous legal, ethical, security and privacy challenges that are compounded by its malicious use by criminals. These challenges pose many risks to both our privacy and security at national, organisational and individual levels. In view of this, this book aims to help address some of these challenges focusing on the implication, impact and mitigations of the stated issues. The book provides a comprehensive coverage of not only the technical and ethical issues presented by the use of AI but also the adversarial application of AI and its associated implications. The authors recommend a number of novel approaches to assist in better detecting, thwarting and addressing AI challenges. The book also looks ahead and forecasts what attacks can be carried out in the future through the malicious use of the AI if sufficient defences are not implemented. The research contained in the book fits well into the larger body of work on various aspects of AI and cyber security. It is also aimed at researchers seeking to obtain a more profound knowledge of machine learning and deep learning in the context of cyber security, digital forensics and cybercrime. Furthermore, the book is an exceptional advanced text for Ph.D. and master’s degree programmes in cyber security, digital forensics, network security, cyber terrorism and computer science. Each chapter contributed to the book is written by an internationally renowned expert who has extensive experience in law enforcement, industry or academia. Furthermore, this book blends advanced research findings with practice-based methods to provide the reader with advanced understanding and relevant skills.

Advances in Artificial Intelligence - IBERAMIA 2002
Author: Francisco J. Garijo
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3540361316
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 974
Book Description
The 8th Ibero-American Conference on Artificial Intelligence, IBERAMIA 2002, took place in Spain for the second time in 14 years; the first conference was organized in Barcelona in January 1988. The city of Seville hosted this 8th conference, giving the participants the opportunity of enjoying the richness of its historical and cultural atmosphere. Looking back over these 14 years, key aspects of the conference, such as its structure, organization, the quantity and quality of submissions, the publication policy, and the number of attendants, have significantly changed. Some data taken from IBERAMIA’88 and IBERAMIA 2002 may help to illustrate these changes. IBERAMIA’88 was planned as an initiative of three Ibero-American AI associations: the Spanish Association for AI (AEPIA), the Mexican Association for AI (SMIA), and the Portuguese Association for AI (APIA). The conference was organized by the AEPIA staff, including the AEPIA president, José Cuena, the secretary, Felisa Verdejo, and other members of the AEPIA board. The proceedings of IBERAMIA’88 contain 22 full papers grouped into six areas: knowledge representation and reasoning, learning, AI tools, expert systems, language, and vision. Papers were written in the native languages of the participants: Spanish, Portuguese, and Catalan. Twenty extended abstracts describing ongoing projects were also included in the proceedings.

Artificial Intelligence in Design ’94
Author: John S. Gero
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 9401109281
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 761
Book Description
Design is an important research topic in engineering and architecture, since design is not only a means of change but also one of the keystones of economic competitiveness and the fundamental precursor to manufacturing. However, our understanding of design as a process and our ability to model it are still very limited. The development of computational models founded on the artificial intelligence paradigm has provided an impetus for much of current design research -- both computational and cognitive. Notwithstanding their immaturity noticeable advances have been made both in extending our understanding of design and in developing tools based on that understanding. The papers in this volume are from the Third International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Design held in August 1994 in Lausanne, Switzerland. They represent the cutting edge of research and development in this field. They are of particular interest to researchers, developers and users of computer systems in design. This volume demonstrates both the breadth and depth of artificial intelligence in design and points the way forward for our understanding of design as a process and for the development of computer-based tools to aid designers.

Three Liability Regimes for Artificial Intelligence
Author: Anna Beckers
Publisher: Bloomsbury Publishing
ISBN: 1509949356
Category : Law
Languages : en
Pages : 240
Book Description
This book proposes three liability regimes to combat the wide responsibility gaps caused by AI systems – vicarious liability for autonomous software agents (actants); enterprise liability for inseparable human-AI interactions (hybrids); and collective fund liability for interconnected AI systems (crowds). Based on information technology studies, the book first develops a threefold typology that distinguishes individual, hybrid and collective machine behaviour. A subsequent social science analysis specifies the socio-digital institutions related to this threefold typology. Then it determines the social risks that emerge when algorithms operate within these institutions. Actants raise the risk of digital autonomy, hybrids the risk of double contingency in human-algorithm encounters, crowds the risk of opaque interconnections. The book demonstrates that the law needs to respond to these specific risks, by recognising personified algorithms as vicarious agents, human-machine associations as collective enterprises, and interconnected systems as risk pools – and by developing corresponding liability rules. The book relies on a unique combination of information technology studies, sociological institution and risk analysis, and comparative law. This approach uncovers recursive relations between types of machine behaviour, emergent socio-digital institutions, their concomitant risks, legal conditions of liability rules, and ascription of legal status to the algorithms involved.
