ISBN: 9783540249672
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 384

Book Description
This book incorporates the most up-to date information related to mechanisms and treatment of cardiac arrhythmia. Many of the topics discussed in this text reflect very recently undertaken research directions including genetics of arrhythmias, cell signalling molecules as potential therapeutic targets and trafficking to the membrane. These new approaches and implementations of anti-arrhythmic therapy derive from many decades of research as outlined in the first chapter by distinguished Professors Michael Rosen (Columbia University) and Michiel Janse (University of Amsterdam). The text covers changes in approaches to therapy over time, arrhythmias in multiple cardiac regions and over many scales, from gene to protein to cell to tissue to organ.

The AFib Cure

The AFib Cure PDF Author: John D. Day
Publisher: BenBella Books
ISBN: 195066564X
Category : Health & Fitness
Languages : en
Pages : 369

Book Description
Most doctors will tell you that there isn't much you can do to treat atrial fibrillation, aside from taking medications for the rest of your life. Cardiologists and a-fib specialists John D. Day and T. Jared Bunch disagree. Atrial fibrillation strikes one in four American adults. Not only do people suffering from this condition suffer from shortness of breath, fatigue, chest discomfort, decreased ability to exercise and do activities of daily living, arrhythmia, and palpitations, but their risk of a stroke, cognitive decline and dementia, heart failure, or premature death also shoots way up. Today, a whole new body of research—one most physicians are unaware of—shows that biomarker and lifestyle optimization may put half the cases of atrial fibrillation into remission without drugs or procedures. And for those in whom these remedies are insufficient or not tolerated, new procedures, in combination with biomarker and lifestyle optimization, may offer lifetime remission from atrial fibrillation and its devastating consequences. In clear, accessible, patient-centric language, Drs. Day and Bunch share their revolutionary approach to treating atrial fibrillation, developed through a combined 53 years working with a-fib patients. The effectiveness of their plan has been proven through countless medical studies. And now, in The AFib Cure: Get Off Your Medications, Take Control of Your Health, and Add Years to Your Life, they share that plan with you. If you're looking for a drug-free solution to your atrial fibrillation, or have a family history of atrial fibrillation and don't want to suffer the same fate, The AFib Cure is for you. Let The AFib Cure show you how to live longer, healthier, free from medications, and free from the fear of atrial fibrillation overshadowing your life.

Atrial Fibrillation Therapy

Atrial Fibrillation Therapy PDF Author: Gheorghe-Andrei Dan
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1447154754
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 200

Book Description
The paradigm for atrial fibrillation (AF) management has changed significantly in recent years. A new era has begun for the prevention of one of the most tremendous complication of AF, stroke. Prevention of ischemic stroke in AF patients with oral anticoagulants represents a huge challenge because of the narrow therapeutic change of these drugs, interindividual and intraindividual variability, and the unsatisfactory time in therapeutically range (TTR) with this type of medication. New guidelines have emerged as a result of new mechanisms for initiation and perpetuation for pharmacotherapy to cure AF and trials with new classes of antithrombotic drugs are ongoing. The treatment of AF is still in its infancy, but recent research is revealing how it can be applied with optimal efficacy. This book assists trainees, recertifying physicians, practicing physicians and other professional staff in internal medicine, cardiology, emergency medicine, and clinical pharmacology to apply new diagnostic tools for selecting the best treatment options for AF patients.

Cardiac Arrhythmias

Cardiac Arrhythmias PDF Author: M. Schlepper
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 3642689264
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 370

Book Description
Asked to organize an international meeting on Propafenone (Ryt monorm) we had to question ourselves, whether to accept this offer just as interested physicians or in our capacity as chairmen of the study group on arrhythmias and intracardiac electrography of the European Society of Cardiology. Considerung the "pros and contras" and well aware that one can easily be regarded as "product promoter" we, nevertheless, choose to organize the Symposion in association with the study group. We felt justified to do so for a number of reasons: Arrhyth mias and their treatment as well as the tools to detect the first and to control the latter are well within the scope of the study group. An international symposion provided the opportunity to have the "state of the art" in arrhythmias and antiarrhythmic treatment thoroughly reviewed by internationally renowned investigators, thus serving an educational purpose. Furthermore it was the intention and aim of the meeting to have what is known about a fairly new drug presented in a critical manner and to point out what is not known, but should be known. It is in that context the presentations of the free session should be judged. To the careful reader it will become apparent that much which was not said, can be read "between the lines".
