ARMED FORCES DEVOTIONAL GUIDE TO A FULFILLING CAREER

ARMED FORCES DEVOTIONAL GUIDE TO A FULFILLING CAREER PDF Author: Dwight A. Scott
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 40

Book Description
A military career is about sacrificing and protecting the freedom and liberties of those around you. How can you continue the drive to accomplish the mission while having an internal force that can prevent burnout? The answer is this: by renewing your spirit and allowing God's power in all aspects of your life. Many military members understand how to improve their physical fitness or gain education through classes, but how do we gain spiritual fitness? Dwight sought to answer these questions by improving spiritual fitness through the reading of scriptures and by integrating experiences from his military career. A war cry of extreme hopefulness is between the pages of this devotional guide. If you've ever felt a tug at your heart for something more as you tightly lace your boots, ready to combat the day, then look no further. The uniform we wear is indeed the fabric of our nation; however, we neglect the stitching that holds it all together--our heavenly Father. Though we may take our uniforms off at the end of the day, being a service member is a full-time commitment, just as it is to be a Christian. This devotional guide will walk you through all parts of your life and aid in your commitment to being a Christian who happens to also be a service member. As you take time to reflect on your walk in Christ, let this devotional drive you to professional, personal, and spiritual growth. Too many times do we separate our faith from the uniform we wear. However, faith is something we shouldn't relinquish or suppress for the sake of our career. The Armed Forces Devotional Guide to a Fulfilling Career provides simple yet refreshing methods of examining your current situation, making the necessary changes, and executing the mission.

Resting in God's Shadow

Resting in God's Shadow PDF Author: Jeffrey Lynn Brooks
Publisher: AuthorLoyalty
ISBN: 163269431X

Pages : 73

Book Description
Boot Camp. The starting point for everyone who joins the military. No one who signs up expects it to be easy. It’s not supposed to be. But everyone at some point during boot camp comes to the end of their own strength. It is at that point where a little encouragement makes all the difference. Resting in God’s Shadow offers encouragement specifically written for those in this especially challenging period of the military. Chaplain (Major) Jeffrey L. Brooks, U.S. Army Retired knows what he’s talking about, with 22 years of active military service. During that time, he served as chaplain at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, encouraging the men and women in boot camp to never give up on themselves or their dreams, keep a positive mental attitude, and give it their best. Since then he’s had a passion to write these encouragements into a book. This book is a collection of twelve devotionals, followed by a prayer book with spaces to record your thoughts. The devotionals in Part One correspond with the prayer book in Part Two. Concise and focused devotions fit into even the most rigorous training schedule. Whether you’re active in the military, or have a loved one headed to boot camp, this devotional is sure to provide just the right words of encouragement and Scripture.

Marching Orders Volume One

Marching Orders Volume One PDF Author: Otis H. Corbitt, III

Pages : 50

Book Description
he Reserve Components of the Armed Forces of the United States play a vital role in our National Defense efforts. Reserve units and personnel of all branches of the military have proven their mettle during the first two decades of the 21st Century, not only protecting the Homeland, but also deploying an untold number of times to multiple theaters of combat, fighting our nation’s battles overseas so that we do not have to fight them at home. We have pursued a long and costly, but necessary, campaign to ensure the freedom and safety of the ones we love. Now, we are well into the third decade of this century, and while members of the Reserve Components are still being deployed on operational missions, a greater emphasis is being placed on resetting the force and preparing for the next military challenge to be faced by our nation. This shift of emphasis means a greater focus on training, and that’s where this book of devotionals comes in. Annual Training is a ritual, a rite of passage, and a challenge for the drilling member of the Reserve Components. It means two or more weeks away from home and loved ones, and it means conducting rigorous, challenging, and, from time-to-time onerous, training, operations, and equipment maintenance. Annual Training can simultaneously be both the highlight of the training year, as well as a thorn in the side of a Service Member. It is an event to be anticipated and also dreaded in just about equal measures. Annual Training is a unique experience which can only really be understood by someone who has "been there and done that.” The purpose of this book is simple: to provide daily devotionals from the Christian Bible for troops attending Annual Training. Depending on the Reserve Component one is assigned to and the location where it is conducted, an Annual Training period can be 14, 15, or 17 days long. Reserve Component units that train overseas can be on duty for as much as 21 days. To split the difference, this book provides 17 days of devotionals. Please note that I have chosen to use the King James translation of the Scriptures in this book for several reasons. First, the King James Bible has historically been the most commonly used translation among Protestants. In addition, the New Testaments provided to troops by the Gideons are usually in the King James Version and so this book will complement their efforts. Finally, according to the American Bible Society, the King James text is in the public domain, which resolves any copyright issues over its use in this book. Feel free, however, to read the focal passage of each day’s devotion in the translation of the Bible that best suits your needs. Some of the included devotionals will have a military theme, but not all of them do. However, all of them do have a basis in Scripture and in the tenets of the Christian faith. I trust that they will encourage and sustain the reader during the trials and triumphs of Annual Training. Every blessing, Chaplain Otis Corbitt
