Book Description
The herbicide silvex (2(2,4,5-trichlorophenoxy) propionic acid) has been under study by various researchers and has been widely used for control of woody and aquatic vegetation for the past 20 years. This report summarizes studies that are pertinent to the Corps of Engineers Aquatic Plant Control Program. Many different obnoxious aquatic plants are controlled with silvex applied at a rate of 0.5 to 2 ppm. Waterlily, pickerelweed, and milfoil are controlled at the minimum level. Slightly higher rates are required for most submersed aquatic weeds. Repeated applications are often necessary for the control of woody aquatic vegetation. (Modified author abstract).
