Introduction. Devant les progrès de l'informatique, le système de santé a incité les médecins généralistes à apprivoiser l'ordinateur au cabinet. Qu'en était-il des remplaçants de la nouvelle génération ? Matériels et méthodes. Une étude transversale par questionnaire en ligne a été menée auprès des médecins généralistes remplaçants des trois dernières promotions de TCEM3 de la faculté d'Amiens. Résultats. 88% des remplaçants remplissaient au moins 3 items sur 5 du dossier médical informatisé. Leur niveau moyen de compétence atteignait 12,8 fonctions sur 20. Beaucoup utilisaient les fonctions de prescription (82%), de télétransmission (91%), d'édition de certificats (77%) et de gestion administrative (75%). Internet était leur principale aide en consultation. Ils reconnaissaient cependant à l'outil des obstacles déontologiques (75%) et relationnels (62%) vis-à-vis de leurs patients. Discussion. L'appropriation de l'outil informatique dans la pratique des jeunes généralistes était tout à fait satisfaisante. S'ils avaient souvent appris seuls à manipuler un logiciel professionnel, ils auraient préféré en acquérir les bases lors de leur formation initiale qu'ils estimaient insuffisante. Conclusion. Découverte au XXème siècle, l'informatique devient un outil incontournable en médecine générale. Ne devrait-on pas permettre aux nouvelles générations d'internes d'en acquérir les connaissances fondamentales lors de formations adaptées ?
