En octobre 2016, un guide méthodologique a été publié pour aider les professionnels à développer leur propre programme d'éducation thérapeutique du patient (ETP) pour les personnes amputées de membre inférieur. Le but de cette étude est d'analyser la pratique de l'ETP pour les patients amputés et évaluer l'impact du guide sur la pratique des kinésithérapeutes. Méthode : deux questionnaires ont été créés pour cette étude : un pour les médecins de Médecine Physique et Réadaptation et les cadres de santé et un autre pour les kinésithérapeutes. Résultats : l'analyse des résultats montre que le nombre de programmes d'ETP pour les patients amputés a augmenté ces dernières années. Le guide est un bon outil de travail et de nombreux établissements l'ont utilisé pour construire leur propre programme. Cependant, le guide est diversement utilisé par les kinésithérapeutes bien que leurs critiques ne soient pas négatives. Discussion : les kinésithérapeutes ont un rôle important dans les programmes d'ETP pour les patients amputés. Mais il semblerait qu'il existe différentes façons de faire de l'éducation du patient entre l'ETP formalisée par les recommandations et l'ETP « invisible » pratiquée quotidiennement lors des séances de rééducation.
