To receive the annual report of your officers, whose term of office will expire with this present meeting, and who will present to you a statement of the progress and workings of the Association, together with its financial operations. Second. For the purpose of electing your officers, whose duty it will become to control and manage the business of the Association for the ensuing year. The importance of selecting good men, men of experience, men of good judgment and benevolent hearts can - in accordance with our views - not be overrated. In the selection of your officers, you want men who will have the willingness as well as the capability to labor with unabated diligence and promptness in the cause in which they undertake to engage. For as misfortunes most always come unawares, as disasters and disappointments generally overtake us when we are least prepared; in the same manner, and under the same circumstances, will application for assistance come before your officers, when there is the least apprehension, and they ought to receive, if possible, their immediate and undivided attention, because delays will not unfrequently prolong the pains, the distress, and the sufferings of those who expect from your hands a speedy relief, at least so far as circumstances will permit, to render them assistance.
