Book Description
Excerpt from Annals of the Early Settlers' Association of Cuyahoga County, 1887, Vol. 8 I then commenced analyzing sentences and applying the rules of syntax, and at the end of six weeks found, to my surprise, that the class had acquired not only a very good, but a somewhat critical knowledge of English grammar. I invited a public examination of the class. The fathers and mothers of the pupils, and the clergy men, lawyers and doctors of the town attended. The examination was decidedly exhaustive, yet very few mistakes were made. The result was pronounced satisfactory, and my charge for tuition was' cheerfully paid. This success relieved me of pecuniary pressure. I have ventured to speak of this incident somewhat in detail, because I believe it to be the true method of teaching English grammar. Book Description
Excerpt from Annals of the Early Settlers' Association of Cuyahoga County, 1889, Vol. 10Ladies and, gentlemen A decade has now elapsed since the organization of our association. The day is, there fore, a landmark in our history - a day in which we can cheerfully unite, I trust, in exchanging expressions of fraternal sympathy and of heart-felt congratulations. In looking back on the past ten years of our associated existence, I think we may truly say that we have accomplished a work not only creditable to ourselves, but of permanent value to the public. In proof of this I need only refer to the series of Annals which we have published, and to the Monument which we have erected in honor of the founder of our beautiful city.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
