Book Description
This thesis develops several systematic and unified approaches for analyzing dynamic systems with positive characteristics or a more general cone invariance property. Based on these analysis results, it uses linear programming tools to address static output feedback synthesis problems with a focus on optimal gain performances. Owing to their low computational complexity, the established controller design algorithms are applicable for large-scale systems. The theory and control strategies developed will not only be useful in handling large-scale positive delay systems with improved solvability and at lower cost, but also further our understanding of the system characteristics in other related areas, such as distributed coordination of networked multi-agent systems, formation control of multiple robots.

Dynamic Systems Control

Dynamic Systems Control PDF Author: Robert E. Skelton
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 536

Book Description
This text deals with matrix methods for handling, reducing, and analyzing data from a dynamic system, and covers techniques for the design of feedback controllers for those systems which can be perfectly modeled. Unlike other texts at this level, this book also provides techniques for the design of feedback controllers for those systems which cannot be perfectly modeled. In addition, presentation draws attention to the iterative nature of the control design process, and introduces model reduction and concepts of equivalent models, topics not generally covered at this level. Chapters cover mathematical preliminaries, models of dynamic systems, properties of state space realizations, controllability and observability, equivalent realizations and model reduction, stability, optimal control of time-variant systems, state estimation, and model error concepts and compensation. Extensive appendixes cover the requisite mathematics.

Analysis and Design for Positive Stochastic Jump Systems

Analysis and Design for Positive Stochastic Jump Systems PDF Author: Wenhai Qi
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9811954909
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 219

Book Description
The book focuses on analysis and design for positive stochastic jump systems. By using multiple linear co-positive Lyapunov function method and linear programming technique, a basic theoretical framework is formed toward the issues of analysis and design for positive stochastic jump systems. This is achieved by providing an in-depth study on several major topics such as stability, time delay, finite-time control, observer design, filter design, and fault detection for positive stochastic jump systems. The comprehensive and systematic treatment of positive systems is one of the major features of the book, which is particularly suited for readers who are interested to learn non-negative theory. By reading this book, the reader can obtain the most advanced analysis and design techniques for positive stochastic jump systems.

Abstract: Abstract of thesis entitled Synthesis of Dynamic Systems with Markovian Characteristics submitted by Junlin Xiong for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Hong Kong in August 2007 The thesis is concerned with the synthesis of dynamic systems with Markovian characteristics. Two classes of systems are considered: Markovian jump linear systems and networked control systems. Three types of problems are investigated. They are (a) robust stabilization, robust H control, robust H control and robust H filter design of 2 1 1 uncertain Markovian jump linear systems; (b) stabilization of Markovian jump linear systems with delayed system information; and (c) stabilization of networked control systems with bounded time delay and packet loss. For problem (a), the system under consideration is a continuous-time Markovian jump linear system. The uncertainties are norm bounded in the system matrices and element-wise bounded in the mode transition rate matrix. An improved model of the mode transition rate uncertainties is described, which enables the use of the probability constraints on the rows of the mode transition rate matrix to reduce the conservatism of the results. Sucient conditions are given for the designs of the robust stabilizing controllers, robust H controllers, robust H controllers and fixed-order robust H 2 1 1filters. For problem (b), the system under consideration is a discrete-time Markovian jump linear system. Both the system state and the system mode are time delayed. The delay in the system state is time-varying and bounded, while that in the system mode is constant. The delay in the latter case manifests as a constant mismatch of the modes between the system and the controller. The resulting closed-loop system is shown to be a time-varying delayed Markovian jump linear system with extended operation modes. A sucient condition is provided for the design of the controller with the delayed information. For problem (c), two techniques are developed for the stabilization of networked control systems. One is to use packet-loss dependent Lyapunov functions. In this case, the process to be controlled is a linear discrete-time system. The communication net- work has the bounded packet-loss behavior characterized either by an arbitrary process or by a Markovian chain. The stabilization problem is tackled. The other technique is to employ a special zero-order hold. In this case, the zero-order hold has a logic to apply the newest control input data to control the process. Under this framework, the networked control system with both time delay and packet loss is discretized to a discrete-time system with input delay. Several sucient conditions are given for the design of the networked controllers. All the obtained conditions are given in terms of either linear matrix inequalities only or linear matrix inequalities with equality constraints. Numerical examples and simulations are used to demonstrate that (a) it is necessary to consider the uncertainties in the mode transition rate matrix; (b) the results developed in the thesis are more powerful than existing ones; (c) the delay in the system mode is critical for the control of Markovian jump linear systems with delayed information; and (d) the networked controllers can be eectively designed by the developed theories. Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems

Control of Uncertain Dynamic Systems PDF Author: Shankar P. Bhattacharyya
Publisher: CRC Press
ISBN: 1000141063
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 546

Book Description
This book is a collection of 34 papers presented by leading researchers at the International Workshop on Robust Control held in San Antonio, Texas in March 1991. The common theme tying these papers together is the analysis, synthesis, and design of control systems subject to various uncertainties. The papers describe the latest results in parametric understanding, H8 uncertainty, l1 optical control, and Quantitative Feedback Theory (QFT). The book is the first to bring together all the diverse points of view addressing the robust control problem and should strongly influence development in the robust control field for years to come. For this reason, control theorists, engineers, and applied mathematicians should consider it a crucial acquisition for their libraries.
