An Evaluation of the Basic Training Curriculum on Men's Ministry at Christ Community Church PDF Author: Daniel Loren Gottwerth

Category : Church work with men

Book Description
The purpose of this project was to evaluate the Basic Training/Top Gun men's discipleship curriculum and its short and long-term effects on the spiritual formation of the men at Christ Community Church. Measuring spiritual growth is not a simple task. It begins with an examination into the spiritual disciplines but then probes deeper into the issues of the heart. A survey was created to interview the 99 men who have completed the Top Gun program. 55 of these men responded to the on-line questionnaire. The data revealed that Top Gun was instrumental in the respondent's lives and made an instant change in their spiritual disciplines and in their relationships with their families, work, and Christian service. Unfortunately, the survey also revealed that many men fall back into old habits through time thus showing the need for ongoing relationships, discipleship, and accountability. The survey also showed a "disconnect" between men's hearts and his habits. A proper understanding of the Kingdom of God and the incredible love of God is essential for developing consistency in character and in mission to the world.

The Elder Training Handbook

The Elder Training Handbook PDF Author: Carey Green
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9781475137552
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 190

Book Description
Identifying and equipping men for the role of church Elder is not an easy task...The role of Elder is perhaps one of the most important roles in the world, since the church is both the body and bride of Jesus. That means church leaders need more than surface opinions about the men who might possibly fit the role of Elder. They need a way to evaluate and train those candidates. This workbook-style handbook is designed to help church leaders do just that, in a wise, careful, and thoroughly Biblical way. Some contexts where this handbookmay be helpful:•When an existing Elder team needs to bring others onto their team•When a Pastor needs to establish an Elder team from scratch•When an Elder team needs a “refresher” about their role, or would like additional training regarding the Biblical mandate for Elders• As a discipleship curriculum for men, where the role of Elder is held up as a “model” for how they can lead their families with the heart of a shepherdThis handbook is not offered as a magic formula or fool-proof method for finding or equipping men for the role of Elder. No such thing exists. Scripture clearly teaches that men are only appointed to the role of Elder by the determination of the Holy Spirit (Acts 20:28). Instead, this handbook is designed to serve as a tool in that Spirit-led process. It is an aid in discerning the will of the Spirit, first through assessment of the man being considered, and secondly through training for those who appear to be called to serve as Elders. With over 260 study questions, a variety of self-assessment tools, scripture memorization, and “quizzes” to test the candidate's understanding and applicationof the concepts included, The Elder Training Handbook is a serious-minded tool for discovering, encouraging, and equipping men to shepherd, protect, and lead the New Testament church.

Pages : 226

Book Description
More teens are turning away from the faith than ever before: it is estimated that 75 to 88% of Christian teens walk away from Christianity by the end of their freshman year of college. Something must be done. Family Driven Faith equips Christian parents with the tools they need to raise children biblically in a post-Christian, anti-family society. Voddie Baucham, who with his wife has overcome a multi-generational legacy of broken and dysfunctional homes, shows that God has not left us alone in raising godly children. He has given us timeless precepts and principles for multi-generational faithfulness, especially in Deuteronomy 6. God's simple command to Moses to teach the Word diligently to the children of Israel serves as the foundation of Family Driven Faith. - Publisher.

The Mentoring Church

The Mentoring Church PDF Author: Phil A. Newton
Publisher: Kregel Publications
ISBN: 0825444640
Category : Psychology
Languages : en
Pages : 240

Book Description
Ministry Book of the Year--The Gospel Coalition 2017 Book Awards The critical missing element in Christian mentoring today: the congregation "Bringing up future leaders isn't just the job of the pastor but of the whole congregation. This is an urgently needed book in churches today." --R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Young, emerging leaders of the church, many of whom have gone through leadership training and traditional mentorship programs, still too often find themselves unprepared for the realities of ministry. Many leave the ministry altogether, overwhelmed. Phil Newton reveals a critical gap: single-source mentorship is incomplete. Mentoring must involve the congregation, not just senior pastors, in order to bring forth mature, resilient leaders prepared for all that ministry entails. The solid, practical solutions in The Mentoring Church offer churches of any size both the vision for mentoring future leaders and a workable template to follow. With insightful consideration of theological, historical, and contemporary training models for pastor/church partnerships, Newton is a reliable guide to developing a church culture that equips fully prepared leaders.
