An Evaluation of an Important Advance in Network Synthesis Theory

An Evaluation of an Important Advance in Network Synthesis Theory PDF Author: E. Folke Bolinder
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Electric circuits
Languages : en
Pages : 34

Book Description
A discussion of a recent significant advance in network synthesis theory is presented. This 'breakthrough' was accomplished by D. Hazony of the Case Institute of Technology and by D. C. Youla of the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, who independently of each other developed methods for unifying the theory of two-port cascade synthesis. Both methods are based on Richards' theorem, and both introduce the gyrator artificually. Different methods of proof are used, however. A valuable 'cookbook recipe' was developed by Youla. Hazony managed to extend the method to n-ports. In all, this epoch-making achievement has resulted in an important, simple, and beautiful method of network synthesis. (Author).

Two Phosphorescences and Electron Transfer in Dye-disulfhydryl Compound Complex

Two Phosphorescences and Electron Transfer in Dye-disulfhydryl Compound Complex PDF Author: Eiji Fujimori
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Complex compounds
Languages : en
Pages : 16

Book Description
Mercaptoethanol and dimercaptopropanol form a complex with a cationic dye. Two dyes interacting with two SH groups in the complex with dimercaptopropanol exhibit two different absorptions and two different phosphorescences. Each one of them, present at a shorter wave length, corresponds to an absorption and a phosphorescence of the complex with mercaptoethanol. The dye-dimercaptopropanol complex is more photosensitive than the dye-mercaptoethanol complex. A phototropism observed in the former complex is based on an electron transfer.

Directivity and Beamwidth Approximations for Large Scanning Dolph-Chebyshev Arrays

Directivity and Beamwidth Approximations for Large Scanning Dolph-Chebyshev Arrays PDF Author: Charles J. Drane (Jr.)
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Antenna radiation patterns
Languages : en
Pages : 38

Book Description
Directivity and beamwidth for radiation patterns corresponding to the optimum Dolph-Chebyshev design have heretofore been determined by means of formulas that, although exact, are intractable to computation and not particularly open to physical interpretation. Approximate but accurate formulas are presented here in closed form, for the purpose of easy examination and computation of directivity and beamwidth for large scannable Dolph-Chebyshev arrays. Array length, number of array elements, the spacing of these elements, and the sidelobe level desired are parameters in this study. The maximum achievable directivity for Chebyshev arrays is in principle limited, regardless of how large the array becomes. Data is given to establish the array length required to obtain a value of directivity at some prescribed level below the maximum value. Comparisons between exact and approximate theory are presented in graphical form in such a way as to illustrate the lower limits of array size for which the approximations are valid. Element spacings less than a half-wavelength are included in this study. (Author).

Electrophoretic Power Generation in Thermally Ionized Plasmas

Electrophoretic Power Generation in Thermally Ionized Plasmas PDF Author: C. C. Leiby (Jr.)
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Electrophoresis
Languages : en
Pages : 42

Book Description
Druyvesteyn's solutions for electrophoretically induced gas flows in electrical discharges in gases were extended over a larger pressure range and corrected for the influence of Debye shielding effects. The effects of molecular or 'slip' flow were also taken into account. These more accurate and general solutions were applied to the reverse phenomenon of space charge field generation arising from the flow of a thermally ionized cesium plasma through a tube. Under such flow conditions, a non-linear differential equation for the axial pressure distribution was obtained but not solved. However, it was possible to obtain estimates of the ranges of cesium pressure, temperature and tube radii which would be required for sensible levels of electric power generation. Anaphoretic flow power levels of the order of 0.1 to 10 watts, in tubes of laboratory dimensions (radii of 10 cm or less), appear feasible at temperatures from 1700 to 2400K. Sensible power generation levels at lower temperatures require very large diameter tubes, and therefore are not feasible. (Author).
