Book Description
Federal and state funding for the construction of a multipurpose community center has been obtained by the Dona Ana County Grants Administration. The community center will serve both communities of Vado and the communities of Del Cerro and Mesquite in southern New Mexico. The proposed building site is located on lots 19 and 20 in Del Cerro Estates Subdivision Dona Ana County, New Mexico. The land is currently owned by Messrs. George and Albert Malooly doing business as (dba) Del Cerro, Incorporated, a New Mexico corporation. On September 12, 1995 Barbara Staley Brown and Judith A. McNew of Archaeo-Associates, Ltd. Co. conducted a cultural resource clearance survey of lots 19 and 20. Between 1975 and the present, earth-moving activities have altered the surface features of the lots significantly. Although some modern trash (less than 20 years old) was noted, no prehistoric or historic sites, features or isolated artifacts were observed. Archaeological clearance is recommended.
