Book Description
An introduction to runoff agriculture - a form of agricultural irrigation - this text describes how the use of surface and subsurface water, often overlooked and wasted, enables both small farmers and commercial agriculturists to improve yields and the security of harvest, even in harsh and remote environments. The text introduces the techniques and strategies, as well as the challenges and the potential of the crucial approach, which can contribute so much to reducing land degradation and improving conservation and sustainability.

Book Description
A growing body of evidence on the impacts of irrigation management transfer (IMT) shows that IMT risks aggravating rural poverty. For governments that aim to continue irrigation management while ensuring that it contributes to poverty alleviation, a "pro-poor" mode of IMT needs to be designed and implemented. That is, a mode of IMT that benefits poor farmers while benefiting non-poor farmers equally, or perhaps to a lesser degree. The present research explores the scope for pro-poor modes of IMT in canal irrigation, focusing on large-scale canal irrigation schemes in India.

Book Description
Advances in Irrigation, Volume 2 covers topics on the developments in the science and practice of irrigation. The book presents articles on irrigation scheduling and applied timing criteria; the problem of energy utilization and management in irrigation; and the relationship between irrigation requirements and crop response in terms of crop-water production functions. The text also includes articles on the development and prospects of irrigation in Australia, as well as the application of a plant-environment model to problems in irrigation. The economic analysis of on-farm irrigation using response functions of crops and irrigation scheduling based on a dynamic crop response model are also encompassed. Industrial engineers, agronomists, economists, agriculturists, hydrologists, hydraulic engineers, and agricultural engineers will find the book invaluable.
