The earliest confiemed Fairweather in America was a Thomas Ffaireweather (d.1638 in Boston). The Fairweather name is common in the British Isles with families originating in both Scotland and England. John Fayerweather was probably the son of Thomas and lived and died in Boston. His son, Benjamin (1672-1737) moved to Connecticutt where he was the father of ten children. Some of his grandchildren were loyalists during the American Revolution and moved to Canada. One of these grandchildren was Jedediah Fairweather (1733-1831) who moved to New Brunswick in 1783. The Canadian branch of the Fairweather family resides in New Brunswick and Ontario.
