Atmospheric Aerosols

Atmospheric Aerosols PDF Author: Hayder Abdul-Razzak
Publisher: BoD – Books on Demand
ISBN: 9535107283
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 494

Book Description
The book is divided into two sections. The first section presents characterization of atmospheric aerosols and their impact on regional climate from East Asia to the Pacific. Ground-based, air-born, and satellite data were collected and analyzed. Detailed information about measurement techniques and atmospheric conditions were provided as well. In the second section, authors provide detailed information about the organic and inorganic constituents of atmospheric aerosols. They discuss the chemical and physical processes, temporal and spatial distribution, emissions, formation, and transportation of aerosol particles. In addition, new measurement techniques are introduced. This book hopes to serve as a useful resource to resolve some of the issues associated with the complex nature of the interaction between atmospheric aerosols and climatology.

Atmospheric Aerosols

Atmospheric Aerosols PDF Author: Claudio Tomasi
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527336451
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 706

Book Description

Aerosol Technology

Aerosol Technology PDF Author: William C. Hinds
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 1118591976
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 411

Book Description
The #1 guide to aerosol science and technology -now better than ever Since 1982, Aerosol Technology has been the text of choice among students and professionals who need to acquire a thorough working knowledge of modern aerosol theory and applications. Now revised to reflect the considerable advances that have been made over the past seventeen years across a broad spectrum of aerosol-related application areas - from occupational hygiene and biomedical technology to microelectronics and pollution control -this new edition includes: * A chapter on bioaerosols * New sections on resuspension, transport losses, respiratory deposition models, and fractal characterization of particles * Expanded coverage of atmospheric aerosols, including background aerosols and urban aerosols * A section on the impact of aerosols on global warming and ozone depletion. Aerosol Technology, Second Edition also features dozens of new, fully worked examples drawn from a wide range of industrial and research settings, plus new chapter-end practice problems to help readers master the material quickly.

Physical and Chemical Properties of Aerosols

Physical and Chemical Properties of Aerosols PDF Author: Ian Colbeck
Publisher: Springer
ISBN:
Category : Nature
Languages : en
Pages : 488

Book Description
An aerosol is a suspension of fine particles in a gas, usually air, and is generally taken to include both solid and liquid particles with dimensions ranging from a few nanometres up to around 100 micrometres in diameter. Aerosol sicence is the study of the physics and chemistry of aerosol behaviour and this includes techniques of generating particles of nanometre and micrometre dimensions: size classification and measurement, transport and deposition properties: chemical properties of aerosols in the atmosphere and in industry, as well as health effects from inhalation and industrial gas cleaning technology. Aerosols have important commercial implications, e.g. pressure-packaged `aerosol' products, agricultural sprays, atmospheric visibility and high technology materials and knowledge of aerosol properties is important in a wide range of disciplines, including industrial hygiene, air pollution, medicine, agriculture, meteorology and geochemistry. Written by an international team of contributors, this book forms a timely, concise and accessible overview of aerosol science and technology. Chemists, technologists and engineers new to aerosol science will find this book an essential companion in their studies of the subject. Those more familiar with aerosols will use it as an essential source of reference.

Aerosol Optics

Aerosol Optics PDF Author: Alexander A. Kokhanovsky
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 9783642062681
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 0

Book Description
This new text offers experienced students a comprehensive review of available techniques for the remote sensing of aerosols. These small particles influence both atmospheric visibility and the thermodynamics of the atmosphere. They are also of great importance in any consideration of climate change problems. Aerosols may also be responsible for the loss of harvests, human health problems and ecological disasters. Thus, this detailed study of aerosol properties on a global scale could not be more timely.

Airborne Measurements for Environmental Research

Airborne Measurements for Environmental Research PDF Author: Manfred Wendisch
Publisher: John Wiley & Sons
ISBN: 3527653236
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 659

Book Description
This first comprehensive review of airborne measurement principles covers all atmospheric components and surface parameters. It describes the common techniques to characterize aerosol particles and cloud/precipitation elements, while also explaining radiation quantities and pertinent hyperspectral and active remote sensing measurement techniques along the way. As a result, the major principles of operation are introduced and exemplified using specific instruments, treating both classic and emerging measurement techniques. The two editors head an international community of eminent scientists, all of them accepted and experienced specialists in their field, who help readers to understand specific problems related to airborne research, such as immanent uncertainties and limitations. They also provide guidance on the suitability of instruments to measure certain parameters and to select the correct type of device. While primarily intended for climate, geophysical and atmospheric researchers, its relevance to solar system objects makes this work equally appealing to astronomers studying atmospheres of solar system bodies with telescopes and space probes.

Atmospheric Aerosol Scattering Background Observations

Atmospheric Aerosol Scattering Background Observations PDF Author: Frank W. Gibson
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Aerosols
Languages : en
Pages : 42

Book Description
Optical scattering, under very clear atmospheric conditions, was measured in situ and analyzed. The experiments were made with a large balloonborne nephelometer launched from Holloman AFB, New Mexico and flown to 26 km altitude. Profiles of angular scattering and polarization properties of atmospheric aerosols show contrast with aerosol particles encountered in the troposphere and stratosphere. The results are compared with those obtained using particle counters under similar atmospheric conditions.
