Book Description
U.S. Air Force Doctrine Annex 4-0 Combat Support January 2020 guides us to effectively organize and employ through the complexities of counterinsurgency and steady-state operations, and help us re-learn the lessons of large-scale peer and near-peer conflict in contested environments. As we continuously improve our airpower capabilities and capacities in air, space, and cyberspace, our ability to revolutionize CS operations and incorporate new concepts and technologies will identify the new best practices that shape future CS doctrine. Joint military operations across the competition continuum is always a consideration when determining the best practices for our Air Force; consideration of peer and near-peer competition is a continuing necessity for doctrine as the Air Force supports the joint fight. Every Airman is an innovator and is integral to this continuous development process - we must all connect, share, and learn together to succeed. The Air Force defines CS as the foundational and crosscutting capability to field, base, protect, support, and sustain Air Force forces during military operations across the competition continuum. This definition meets the Service's needs for an overarching doctrinal perspective on CS. The nation's ability to project and sustain airpower depends on effective CS. CS enables airpower through the integration of its functional communities to provide the core effects, core processes, and core capabilities required to execute the Air Force mission. The integration of these functional communities ensures Air Force forces are ready, postured, equipped, employed, and sustained at the right place and time to support the joint force. Future CS operations in a contested environment against a peer or near-peer adversary will require the air component to be more adaptive, resilient, and agile in its deployment and employment plans and leadership philosophies. The Air Force should be ready to provide resilient and redundant combat support capabilities in an environment of peer competition.

Book Description
This Air Force Doctrine Document (AFDD) establishes doctrinal guidance for combat support to air and space forces across the full range of military operations. "Combat Support" is the keystone document addressing the full spectrum of agile combat support functions that operate in peace and in war. It stresses the need for tailored combat support packages with the Airmen, facilities, equipment, and supplies required for supporting Air Force forces. General Kenney Reports: A Personal History of the Pacific War

General Kenney Reports: A Personal History of the Pacific War PDF Author:
Publisher: DIANE Publishing
ISBN: 1428913351
Category : Generals
Languages : en
Pages : 612

Book Description
General Kenney Reports is a classic account of a combat commander in action. General George Churchill Kenney arrived in the South- west Pacific theater in August 1942 to find that his command, if not in a shambles, was in dire straits. The theater commander, General Douglas MacArthur, had no confidence in his air element. Kenney quickly changed this situation. He organized and energized the Fifth Air Force, bringing in operational commanders like Whitehead and Wurtsmith who knew how to run combat air forces. He fixed the logistical swamp, making supply and maintenance supportive of air operations, and encouraging mavericks such as Pappy Gunn to make new and innovative weapons and to explore new tactics in airpower application. The result was a disaster for the Japanese. Kenney's airmen used air power-particularly heavily armed B-25 Mitchell bombers used as commerce destroyers-to savage Japanese supply lines, destroying numerous ships and effectively isolating Japanese garrisons. The classic example of Kenney in action was the Battle of the Bismarck Sea, which marked the attainment of complete Allied air dominance and supremacy over Japanese naval forces operating around New Guinea. In short, Kenney was a brilliant, innovative airman, who drew on his own extensive flying experiences to inform his decision-making. General Kenney Reports is a book that has withstood the test of time, and which should be on the shelf of every airman.

Pages : 80

Book Description
This book, Space Capstone Publication Spacepower: Doctrine for Space Forces, is capstone doctrine for the United States Space Force and represents our Service's first articulation of an independent theory of spacepower. This publication answers why spacepower is vital for our Nation, how military spacepower is employed, who military space forces are, and what military space forces value. In short, this capstone document is the foundation of our professional body of knowledge as we forge an independent military Service committed to space operations. Like all doctrine, the SCP remains subject to the policies and strategies that govern its employment. Military spacepower has deterrent and coercive capacities - it provides independent options for National and Joint leadership but achieves its greatest potential when integrated with other forms of military power. As we grow spacepower theory and doctrine, we must do so in a way that fosters greater integration with the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. It is only by achieving true integration and interdependence that we can hope to unlock spacepower's full potential.

Publisher: National Academies Press
ISBN: 0309678684
Category : Business & Economics

Pages : 289

Book Description
The USAir Force human capital management (HCM) system is not easily defined or mapped. It affects virtually every part of the Air Force because workforce policies, procedures, and processes impact all offices and organizations that include Airmen and responsibilities and relationships change regularly. To ensure the readiness of Airmen to fulfill the mission of the Air Force, strategic approaches are developed and issued through guidance and actions of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Manpower, Personnel and Services and the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Manpower and Reserve Affairs. Strengthening US Air Force Human Capital Management assesses and strengthens the various U.S. Air Force initiatives and programs working to improve person-job match and human capital management in coordinated support of optimal mission capability. This report considers the opportunities and challenges associated with related interests and needs across the USAF HCM system as a whole, and makes recommendations to inform improvements to USAF personnel selection and classification and other critical system components across career trajectories. Strengthening US Air Force Human Capital Management offers the Air Force a strategic approach, across a connected HCM system, to develop 21st century human capital capabilities essential for the success of 21st century Airmen.
