The story “Brutus and Patches” is about a Saint Bernard dog, Brutus, who has the run of the house by his owners, Thelma and Bill. Will Brutus and Patches ever learn to get along with each other? “Elvira and the Choir” is a story of fifty-six-year-old Elvira who has suffered a stroke. The Awakening of Adam

The Awakening of Adam PDF Author: Ron L. Kuntz
Publisher: Tate Publishing
ISBN: 1617775401
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 100

Book Description
I shall tell you a story—it is the tale of a journey. Gather round, young and old, for the moving and amusing tale of Adam, a most curious and unique little whistle-pig. Adam is different from the rest of his group from birth. Those in the Whistle-pig Clan do not think deep thoughts. They do not laugh. They cannot even smile! But Adam does these things. Adam plays when the others do not. He explores where the others do not. He protects when others will not. And for all his differences, he is shunned from the group and finds a home, alone, a short distance away from where he grew up. Adam is mostly pleased with his solitary life, but he can't help longing for someone to share his thoughts with. A prisoner in his own mind, he sometimes finds it easy to make a bad choice. But, as he is different than any other whistle-pig, he begins to feel emotions that whistle-pigs and others in the animal kingdom do not feel. These emotions leave him conflicted, until the arrival of Agnus, a strangely kind two leg. A story of redemption and hope, The Awakening of Adam is an allegorical treasure that will inspire your heart and touch your spirit.

God's "Good Morning"

God's Author: Betty Raymond Gubler
Publisher: Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
ISBN:
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 402

Book Description
The manuscript of God's "Good Morning" is just what the subtitle claims. It is a retelling of my spiritual journey raising an autistic son who is now fifty-four years old. Our son lives at home with his parents and will do so until my husband Greg and I become incapable of parenting him due to old age or our passing at which time, our son will live with his sister. Thus, this relationship is a lifelong commitment. This manuscript is a story of the growth of faith, hope, and love. My intention of writing such a manuscript is that of my desire to share with other parents of a special needs child my experiences dealing with this daunting challenge. This is not a clinical manuscript, but rather a manuscript of personal growth from shock, despair, and discouragement to acceptance, peace, and joy and reveals the miraculous healing of my broken spirit. Although this manuscript is written for parents of special needs children, it would also be found inspiring by a general audience of readers.

Adam Bede

Adam Bede PDF Author: George Eliot
Publisher: Broadview Press
ISBN: 1770480625
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 642

Book Description
The seemingly peaceful country village of Hayslope is the setting for this ambitious first novel by one of the nineteenth century’s great novelists. With sympathy, wit, and unflinching realism, Adam Bede tells a story that would have been familiar to Eliot’s first readers: the seduction of a pretty farm girl by the young squire of the district. Eliot uses this story, with its tragic implications, to explore the dangers of reliance on religious and social norms to govern destructive desires. As this edition demonstrates, Adam Bede addresses profound questions of morality, religion, and the role of women in society, while at the same time seeking to establish a new aesthetic for fiction. This Broadview edition includes a critical introduction and a rich selection of appendices, including selections from Eliot’s letters and journals, contemporary reviews of the novel, and accounts of the murder trial of Mary Voce, the woman whose story formed part of the inspiration for the novel.

ISBN: 0994299710
Category : Juvenile Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 149

Book Description
Last Days of the Koonung is a rip roaring, fast paced adventure characterized by evocative imagery, positive values and original themes. Appealing to the imagination of readers aged 8 to 12, the story is set on Melbourne’s urban fringe where nature and city collide. It is here that Adam and Tom are persuaded by Adam’s older brother to climb the gigantic tree that grows in Edgars Valley. Unknowingly they cross the Gateway into the fourth dimension, ‘The World Without’, a beautiful land where the power of life is richer and greater than anything that exists in our world. However, a decade’s long conflict rages between the long-suffering Marou and tormented Fras who were recreated as lesser beings during the Diminishing; a catastrophic event brought on by Adam’s father when he was a boy. The Diminishing has left the Fras deformed and the Marou lessened in power and stature. The boys soon learn that the Fras have found one of the lost Life Elements which imbue extraordinary powers upon the holder. While the Marou seek the Elements in the hope of being restored, the Fras are filled with hate, intent on regaining the Elements and taking their revenge on the boy’s father, his family and the Marou. ‘For young reader, this rapidly evolving story, energetic writing and original themes sustain the narrative, for daring beginning to climactic end.’ ‘The book embodies the adventurous spirit of pre-adolescence when reality and fantasy overlap, as make-believe games, exploring and climbing trees become extraordinary.’
