"El objetivo del proyecto corresponde a la modificación del módulo de diseño del programa ALCANTARILLADOS creado por el Centro de Investigaciones en Acueductos y Alcantarillados (CIACUA) de la Universidad de los Andes y que tiene como finalidad el diseño optimizado de redes de alcantarillado. Dentro del proceso de actualización se realiza la inclusión de diferentes ecuaciones de costo para el diseño de alcantarillados reconocidas mundialmente, y de un análisis de diseño combinatorio que permita obtener diseños múltiples de una misma red a partir de los diferentes métodos de diseño utilizados: diseño rápido, diseño por pendientes propias y diseño mediante el método Bellman Ford. Todo esto, enfocado en una modificación en la interfaz gráfica del software que permita una interacción más directa y cómoda para los usuarios. De esta manera, el presente documento contiene principalmente un marco teórico en el que se buscan establecer los componentes principales de un sistema de alcantarillado, la definición de las características y restricciones presentadas por las Normas Colombianas asociadas al diseño de redes de alcantarillados (RAS2000) y una explicación breve de los métodos de diseño y ecuación de costo utilizadas en el software computacional en estudio. Seguidamente, se presenta un manual de usuario en donde se explica de manera detallada el manejo del lenguaje de programación utilizado para la construcción de la herramienta computacional y el uso adecuado de cada una de las herramientas y botones del módulo de diseño. Finalmente, se exponen un análisis de resultados de diseño de una red específica a partir de modificaciones en las variables y métodos de diseño, acompañado de recomendaciones para modificaciones futuras del programa ALCANTARILLADOS y una serie de conclusiones acerca del proyecto realizado."--Introducción.
