Spatial Control Of Vibration: Theory And Experiments

Spatial Control Of Vibration: Theory And Experiments PDF Author: S O Reza Moheimani
Publisher: World Scientific
ISBN: 9814486280
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 237

Book Description
Vibration is a natural phenomenon that occurs in a variety of engineering systems. In many circumstances, vibration greatly affects the nature of engineering design as it often dictates limiting factors in the performance of the system. The conventional treatment is to redesign the system or to use passive damping. The former could be a costly exercise, while the latter is only effective at higher frequencies. Active control techniques have emerged as viable technologies to fill this low-frequency gap. This book is concerned with the study of feedback controllers for vibration control of flexible structures, with a view to minimizing vibration over the entire body of the structure. The book introduces a variety of flexible structures such as beams, strings, and plates with specific boundary conditions, and explains in detail how a spatially distributed model of such systems can be obtained. It addresses the problems of model reduction and model correction for spatially distributed systems of high orders, and goes on to extend robust control techniques such as H-infinity and H2 control design methodologies to spatially distributed systems arising in active vibration control problems. It also addresses other important topics, such as actuator and sensor placement for flexible systems, and system identification for flexible structures with irregular boundary conditions. The text contains numerous examples, and experimental results obtained from laboratory-level apparatus, with details of how similar test beds may be built.

Optimized Multi-modes MIMO Positive Position Feedback Active Vibration for Plate Structure

Optimized Multi-modes MIMO Positive Position Feedback Active Vibration for Plate Structure PDF Author: Zhonghui Wu
Publisher: GRIN Verlag
ISBN: 366827097X
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 29

Book Description
Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2015 in the subject Engineering - General, Flinders University (School of Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematics), course: Mater of Engineering by Research, language: English, abstract: Active vibration control (AVC) methodology is presented by the author in this paper using bonded three self-sensing magnetic transducers for a flexible plate structure. Multi-modes multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) positive position feedback (PPF) controller is tested and verified for vibration suppression through simulation and experiment implement. Based on genetic algorithm (GA) searching, optimal parameters of the controllers can be obtained according to the minimization criterion which is the solution to the H_∞ norm of the whole closed-loop system.

Dynamic Modeling and Active Vibration Control of Structures

Dynamic Modeling and Active Vibration Control of Structures PDF Author: Moon Kyu Kwak
Publisher: Springer Nature
ISBN: 9402421203
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 377

Book Description
This book describes the active vibration control techniques which have been developed to suppress excessive vibrations of structures. It covers the fundamental principles of active control methods and their applications and shows how active vibration control techniques have replaced traditional passive vibration control. The book includes coverage of dynamic modeling, control design, sensing methodology, actuator mechanism and electronic circuit design, and the implementation of control algorithms via digital controllers. An in-depth approach has been taken to describe the modeling of structures for control design, the development of control algorithms suitable for structural control, and the implementation of control algorithms by means of Simulink block diagrams or C language. Details of currently available actuators and sensors and electronic circuits for signal conditioning and filtering have been provided based on the most recent advances in the field. The book is used as a textbook for students and a reference for researchers who are interested in studying cutting-edge technology. It will be a valuable resource for academic and industrial researchers and professionals involved in the design and manufacture of active vibration controllers for structures in a wide variety of fields and industries including the automotive, rail, aerospace, and civil engineering sectors.
