Handbook of Measure Theory
Author: E. Pap
Publisher: Elsevier
ISBN: 0080533094
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 1633
Book Description
The main goal of this Handbook isto survey measure theory with its many different branches and itsrelations with other areas of mathematics. Mostly aggregating many classical branches of measure theory the aim of the Handbook is also to cover new fields, approaches and applications whichsupport the idea of "measure" in a wider sense, e.g. the ninth part of the Handbook. Although chapters are written of surveys in the variousareas they contain many special topics and challengingproblems valuable for experts and rich sources of inspiration.Mathematicians from other areas as well as physicists, computerscientists, engineers and econometrists will find useful results andpowerful methods for their research. The reader may find in theHandbook many close relations to other mathematical areas: realanalysis, probability theory, statistics, ergodic theory, functional analysis, potential theory, topology, set theory, geometry, differential equations, optimization, variationalanalysis, decision making and others. The Handbook is a richsource of relevant references to articles, books and lecturenotes and it contains for the reader's convenience an extensivesubject and author index.

Fourteenth International Conference Zaragoza–Pau on Mathematics and its Applications
Author: López de Silanes, M. C.
Publisher: Prensas de la Universidad de Zaragoza
ISBN: 8417358005
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 242
Book Description
The International Conference Zaragoza-Pau on Mathematics and its Applications was organized by the Departamento de Matemática Aplicada, the Departamento de Métodos Estadísticos and the Departamento de Matemáticas, all of them from the Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain), and the Laboratoire de Mathématiques et de leurs Applications, from the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour (France). This conference has been held every two years since 1989. The aim of this conference is to present recent advances in Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Pure Mathematics, putting special emphasis on subjects linked to petroleum engineering and environmental problems. The Fourteenth Conference took place in Jaca (Spain) from 12nd to 15th September 2016. During those four days, 99 mathematicians, coming from di erent universities, research institutes or the industrial sector, attended 14 plenary lectures, 62 contributed talks and a poster session with 4 posters. We note that in this edition there were 11 mini-symposia, two of them co-organized by colleagues from the Universidad de Zaragoza and the Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour.

Computer-aided Surface Geometry and Design
Author: Adrian Bowyer
Publisher: Oxford University Press, USA
ISBN:
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 496
Book Description
Describing the shapes of real objects for the purposes of engineering, architecture, medicine, and a host of other disciplines often requires complicated mathematics and subtle computer techniques. With contributions from eminent authorities in the field, this wide-ranging volume describes the latest research in computer-aided surface geometry and design techniques currently being used and developed. Topics include: The geometry of helical canal surface, optimized triangulation of parametric surfaces, simple singularities in surface-surface intersections, and the volume function, among others. With its technical richness and comprehensive treatment of the subject, the book will appeal to students and researchers working in CAD, CAM, architecture, medical modeling, molecular modeling, geography, cartography, and landscape design.
