Acquisition and Reproduction of Color Images

Acquisition and Reproduction of Color Images PDF Author: Jon Y. Hardeberg
Publisher: Universal-Publishers
ISBN: 1581121350
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 324

Book Description
The goal of the work reported in this dissertation is to develop methods for the acquisition and reproduction of high quality digital color images. To reach this goal it is necessary to understand and control the way in which the different devices involved in the entire color imaging chain treat colors. Therefore we addressed the problem of colorimetric characterization of scanners and printers, providing efficient and colorimetrically accurate means of conversion between a device-independent color space such as the CIELAB space, and the device-dependent color spaces of a scanner and a printer.

Analysis of Image Noise in Multispectral Color Acquisition

Analysis of Image Noise in Multispectral Color Acquisition PDF Author: Peter D. Burns
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Colorimetry
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
"The design of a system for multispectral image capture will be influenced by the imaging application, such as image archiving, vision research, illuminant modification or improved (trichromatic) color reproduction. A key aspect of the system performance is the effect of noise, or error, when acquiring multiple color image records and processing of the data. This research provides an analysis that allows the prediction of the image-noise characteristics of systems for the capture of multispectral images. The effects of both detector noise and image processing quantization on the color information are considered, as is the correlation between the errors in the component signals. The above multivariate error-propagation analysis is then applied to an actual prototype system. Sources of image noise in both digital camera and image processing are related to colorimetric errors. Recommendations for detector characteristics and image processing for future systems are then discussed."--Abstract.

Introduction to Color Imaging Science

Introduction to Color Imaging Science PDF Author: Hsien-Che Lee
Publisher: Cambridge University Press
ISBN: 1139444557
Category : Computers
Languages : en
Pages : 717

Book Description
Colour imaging technology has become almost ubiquitous in modern life in the form of monitors, liquid crystal screens, colour printers, scanners, and digital cameras. This book is a comprehensive guide to the scientific and engineering principles of colour imaging. It covers the physics of light and colour, how the eye and physical devices capture colour images, how colour is measured and calibrated, and how images are processed. It stresses physical principles and includes a wealth of real-world examples. The book will be of value to scientists and engineers in the colour imaging industry and, with homework problems, can also be used as a text for graduate courses on colour imaging.

Advanced Color Image Processing and Analysis

Advanced Color Image Processing and Analysis PDF Author: Christine Fernandez-Maloigne
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 1441961909
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 514

Book Description
This volume does much more than survey modern advanced color processing. Starting with a historical perspective on ways we have classified color, it sets out the latest numerical techniques for analyzing and processing colors, the leading edge in our search to accurately record and print what we see. The human eye perceives only a fraction of available light wavelengths, yet we live in a multicolor world of myriad shining hues. Colors rich in metaphorical associations make us “purple with rage” or “green with envy” and cause us to “see red.” Defining colors has been the work of centuries, culminating in today’s complex mathematical coding that nonetheless remains a work in progress: only recently have we possessed the computing capacity to process the algebraic matrices that reproduce color more accurately. With chapters on dihedral color and image spectrometers, this book provides technicians and researchers with the knowledge they need to grasp the intricacies of today’s color imaging.
