Confrontés à de nombreux défis (économiques, environnementaux, sociaux et sociétaux), les territoires sont contraints d'entrer en transition. Cette transition est énergétique, en raison de l'épuisement des énergies fossiles et du dérèglement climatique, mais elle est aussi numérique, avec les nouvelles technologies qui modifient profondément nos modes de vie et de fonctionnement. Les collectivités territoriales sont en première ligne pour conduire la transition énergétique : action sur les politiques publiques, incitation au changement des comportements, exemplarité... Ce Dossier d'experts a pour objectif de montrer la vitalité de ces territoires en transition qui utilisent l'innovation technologique pour s'engager dans la transition énergétique. Il présente un état des lieux de ces deux transitions. Il insiste, notamment, sur l'importance des services numériques pour mieux gérer la ville mais aussi sur la transformation induite par l'économie de partage et le pouvoir des citoyens. Car ces nouveaux territoires issus de la transition ne seront acceptés par leurs habitants que s'ils ont été en partie construits avec eux. Enfin, il identifie les facteurs clés du succès de ces transitions.

The demographics of the West remain sluggish, while the population of the Muslim world explodes, widening the cultural gap and all but guaranteeing the outbreak of war.
