He served with the Northampton County Miltia during the Revolutionary War. He married twice and was the father of eighteen children, born 1772-1805. The family moved from Berks County, Pennsylvania, to Tyrone Township, Cumberland County, now Perry County, Pennsylvania, in 1789. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.
