The Life of Arthur W. Pink

The Life of Arthur W. Pink PDF Author: Iain Hamish Murray
Publisher: Banner of Truth
ISBN: 9780851518831
Category : Biography & Autobiography
Languages : en
Pages : 350

Book Description
Pink's biography, first written by Iain Murray in 1981, is here revised and enlarged with the benefit of new material, including some of Pink's own re-discovered manuscripts. It is the heart-stirring and compelling story of a strong, complex character a 'Mr Valiant-for-truth' who was also a humble Christian. In 1922 a small magazine Studies in the Scriptures began to circulate among Christians in the English-speaking world. It pointed its readership back to an understanding of the gospel that had rarely been heard since the days of C. H. Spurgeon. At the time it seemed as inconsequential as its author, but subsequently Arthur Pink's writings became a major element in the recovery of expository preaching and biblical living. Born in England in 1886, A. W. Pink was the little-known pastor of churches in the United States and Australia before he finally returned to his homeland in 1934. There he died almost unnoticed in 1952.

The Antichrist

The Antichrist PDF Author: A.W. Pink

ISBN:
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 202

Book Description
"Antichrist" is an in-depth study of the biblical texts on Antichrist, which aims to answer the question: Who or what is the Antichrist? To answer this question, Pink traces the references to Antichrist, including the Book of Psalms, the Gospels, the Epistles, and Revelation, and constructs the profile of Antichrist from the scriptures. He doesn't approach Antichrist only as a person but also as an ideology that leads to a certain chain of deeds and events. Yet, in the first chapters of the book, he rejects the idea that the Roman papacy is the embodiment of Antichrist, despite their persecution of Christians in the Middle Ages. In Chapters Three to Seven, he gives details on the possible Antichrist identity as he sees it, based on the scripture. Chapter Eight through Seventeen demonstrate how the theme of Antichrist is displayed through the Bible. Arthur Walkington Pink (1886–1952) is one of the most influential evangelical authors in the second half of the twentieth century. He was an English Bible teacher who sparked a renewed interest in the exposition of Calvinism or Reformed Theology.

Attributes of God

Pages : 106

Book Description
A Transforming Knowledge of the Living God The timeless appeal of this classic book, written by a preacher with a worldwide ministry during the first half of the twentieth century, demonstrates the deep hunger for a saving knowledge of God present in each generation. Arthur Pink sought to give readers not just a theoretical knowledge of God but pointed them toward a personal relationship of yielding to him and living according to his biblical precepts. Pink's book explores attributes such as God's decrees, foreknowledge, sovereignty, holiness, grace, and mercy, among many others, all packaged in a style especially useful for pastors, teachers, and Bible students. Our God who is above all names cannot be found through human searching alone, Pink teaches, but can be known only as he is revealed by the Holy Spirit through his living Word.

Satan and His Gospel

Satan and His Gospel PDF Author: Arthur Pink
Publisher: Darolt Books
ISBN: 6586145902
Category : Bibles
Languages : en
Pages : 92

Book Description
Is the Devil a living reality, or is he nothing more than a figment of the imagination? Is the word "Satan" merely a synonym for wickedness, or does it stand for a concrete entity? In cultured circles it has become the custom to return a negative answer to these questions, and to flatly deny the existence of the Tempter. Among such people it is regarded as a mark of intellectual superiority to repudiate the personality of the Devil. By many, Satan is now looked upon as a product of priestcraft, a relic of superstition, the myth of a bygone age. With others, Satan is simply an abstraction, a mere negation, the opposite of good. "All the Devil there is, is the devil within you," is the last word of "modern thought." The words which Goethe puts into the mouth of Mephistopholes"I am the Spirit of Negation"is accepted as a good workable definition of the Devil. He is regarded as a mere abstract principle of evil. As someone has quaintly put it, "They spell Devil without a 'd', as they spell God with two 'o's'. Good and evil is their scheme." Totally based on the scriptures. This book presents biblical answers to that subject.

The Life Of David

The Life Of David PDF Author: Arthur Pink
Publisher: Darolt Books
ISBN: 8835362296
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 869

Book Description
The Life Of David is a message of meditation based on the Bible and written by Arthur Walkington Pink was born in Nottingham, England, to a corn merchant, a devout non-conformist of uncertain denomination, though probably a Congregationalist. Otherwise, almost nothing is known of Pink's childhood or education except that he had some ability and training in music. As a young man, Pink joined the Theosophical Society and apparently rose to enough prominence within its ranks that Annie Besant, its head, offered to admit him to its leadership circle. In 1908 he renounced Theosophy for evangelical Christianity. Desiring to become a minister but unwilling to attend a liberal theological college in England, Pink very briefly studied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago in 1910 before taking the pastorate of the Congregational church in Silverton, Colorado. In 1912 Pink left Silverton, probably for California, and then took a joint pastorate of churches in rural Burkesville and Albany, Kentucky. In 1916, he married Vera E. Russell (1893–1962), who had been reared in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Pink's next pastorate seems to have been in Scottsville. Then the newlyweds moved in 1917 to Spartanburg, South Carolina, where Pink became pastor of Northside Baptist Church. By this time Pink had become acquainted with prominent dispensationalist Fundamentalists, such as Harry Ironside and Arno C. Gaebelein, and his first two books, published in 1917 and 1918, were in agreement with that theological position. Yet Pink's views were changing, and during these years he also wrote the first edition of The Sovereignty of God (1918), which argued that God did not love sinners and had deliberately created "unto damnation" those who would not accept Christ. Whether because of his Calvinistic views, his nearly incredible studiousness, his weakened health, or his lack of sociability, Pink left Spartanburg in 1919 believing that God would "have me give myself to writing." But Pink then seems next to have taught the Bible with some success in California for a tent evangelist named Thompson while continuing his intense study of Puritan writings.

Far more miracles were wrought by him or were granted in answer to his prayers than any other of the Old Testament prophets. The character of Elisha's mission and ministry was in thorough keeping with Israel's condition at that time. The very fact that these miracles were needed indicates the state into which Israel had fallen. A.W Pink unfolds the life and miracles of Elisha in 30 power packed Chapters of this famous Prophet of God.
