Book Description
The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of participative management style on job satisfaction of the employees. Based on the review of existing literature, a model linking manager's participative management style, participation in strategic planning process, supervisor communication and job satisfaction was tested with the help of data collected from 86 (n=86) faculty members of universities in Islamabad. The result of correlation analysis reveals significant relationship between all the predictor variables and outcome variable. Regression results indicate that effective supervisory communication is a major cause of job satisfaction in the context of participative management. The study implies that in order to improve faculty satisfaction, the administrators in higher education sector should replace traditional authoritative command structures with participative management style.

Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment, and Turnover Intentions Among Lebanese Workers

Pages : 118
Book Description
Job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intentions are some of the most important work attitudes studied in the work literature. This project examines the levels of these work attitudes among Lebanese workers, and their re lationships with some demographic variables. One may ask whether the Lebanese wo rkers are satisfied with their jobs and committed to the organizations they work for, and whether such issues really matter. Several studies presented throughou t this project conclude that job satisfaction ultimately leads to a better firm performance since it is positively related to labor productivity and negatively associated with labor turnover. The study gave support to some of the hypotheses that lead us to conclude that m anagers should not be biased in their recruitment efforts towards males or singl e employees since the study did not show significant differences concerning sati sfaction, commitment, or turnover between males and females and between single e mployees and married ones. The results of this paper also stress on the importan ce of sustaining and improving affective, normative, and continuance commitment, as well as job satisfaction in addressing turnover intentions among Lebanese wo rkers. Future research must address this issue by resorting to longitudinal methods, an d using other behavioral outcomes of job satisfaction and organizational commitm ent. Moreover, more research must be conducted in Lebanon first among other and more general criteria of respondents and second to know whether such research re sults are similar to those of other Arab countries. The paper also identified la ck of research done in Lebanon to identify the causes of employee satisfaction, kinds of commitment, and turnover.

Author: Gordana Stankovska
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 8
Book Description
Education is the most important organization of a nation; it plays a significant role in the development of any country. Universities create and cultivate knowledge for the sake of building a modern world. The academic staff is the key resource within higher education institutions. A positive and healthy university structure results in increased academic staff's job satisfaction and better job motivation. According to this, the main purpose of this research was to investigate the possible relationship between job motivation and job satisfaction among academic staff. The Job Satisfaction Survey (JSS) and Job Motivation Questionnaire (JMQ) were administered to a sample of 100 (50 males and 50 females) university employees. The results indicated that the academic staff was highly motivated with their job. At the same time the results showed that academicians were more satisfied with their salary, co-workers, promotion, operating procedures and supervision, but dissatisfied with fringe benefits, contingent rewards, nature of work and communication. This research offers practical suggestions to the educational institutions and human resource managers on how to pay, promote, retain and maintain equity in the universities. [For the complete Volume 15 proceedings, see ED574185.].
