Book Description

Pages : 74

Book Description
Inspired to write this story. I acquired a piano student--a five-year-old girl who had a serious form of cancer. One day out in the parking lot of the church buying pumpkins, I told the pastor about this little girl. In the parking lot, the pastor said, "Let's pray for that girl." The pastor, the pumpkin sellers, and I prayed for the little girl. That was on a Tuesday. Instead of the little girl sitting down next to me, the mother sat down and said, "You're not going to believe this. We just got back." From the hospital, the doctor said that she was absolutely cancer-free. Pegasus.

American Western Song

American Western Song PDF Author: Victor Pearn
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Poetry
Languages : en
Pages : 396

Book Description
Victor Pearn is indeed “A man for all seasons.” This is my conclusion after feasting upon each delicious morsel of his poetry. It is my belief that Victor Pearn’s poetry will be considered to be among the finest works of poetry in both the Twentieth Century and our New Millennium. He has the unique gift of expressing in poetry what is otherwise inexpressible. His word pictures make you feel like you are there experiencing the things he describes so vividly. Victor also possesses the unique ability of being both tough minded and tender hearted. He is one of those rare individuals whose writings are both sweet and reasonable. His poetry reflects who he is today and where he has been, as he is a child of the Sixties and Seventies who has tasted both the bitter and the sweet and has come through those refining trials as a man who has lived what his poetry teaches. I am proud to commend Victor Pearn’s poetry to all who are hungry and thirsty for a special literary feast. Dr. Jerry Gibson

The Grandmother Principles

The Grandmother Principles PDF Author: Suzette Haden Elgin
Publisher: Abbeville Press
ISBN: 9780789205858
Category : Family & Relationships
Languages : en
Pages : 228

Book Description
According to the author, "Grandmother skills" are disappearing because in our highly mobile society, women may now remain in the workforce or live far from their grandchildren. Elgin (The Gentle Art of Verbal Self-Defense), herself a grandmother to 10, attempts to fill this gap by providing grandmothers of all types and ages with this chatty and good-natured guide to successful grandmothering. Included among Elgin's 21 sensible principles are advice for mediating family disputes, tips for helping grandchildren with money problems while maintaining one's own financial solvency, as well as the importance of passing down family myths and stories to the next generation. Elgin also discusses family crises or illnesses when it may become necessary for a grandmother to take over the running of the household of one of her children (whom she coyly refers to as a "chadult"). Elgin firmly believes that once the emergency is over, a grandmother must return the household to the parents as soon as possible and gracefully return home. Elgin includes lots of nitty gritty advice but most of her book is aimed at reminding readers how to give families the advantage of their experience without giving in to the frailties of age. “ 35 b/w illustrations
