Determination of Quadriceps/hamstring Muscle Strength According to Body Weight Ratios and Normative Hamstring-quadricep Muscle Strength Ratios

Determination of Quadriceps/hamstring Muscle Strength According to Body Weight Ratios and Normative Hamstring-quadricep Muscle Strength Ratios PDF Author: Michael Gaudette

Book Description
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine work ratios of the hamstring muscle group compared to the quadricep muscle group and to determine the correlation between hamstring muscle group and quadricep muscle group work values to body weight. Eighteen male Springfield College students between the ages of 18 and 25 years who had no previous hip or knee surgeries participated in this study. Work values were obtained from an isokinetic dynamometer. Each subject performed five maximal repetitions of knee flexion/extension with each leg at speeds of 180, 240, and 300 deg/sec, which were randomly selected by each subject. A high positive correlation of quadricep muscle work to body weight was found at all speeds. There was also a moderate positive correlation of quadricep muscle work to body weight at each testing speed. The ANOVA for all hamstring/quadricep muscle work ratios showed no significant difference within or between the testing speeds at the p

Biomechanical Spectrum of Human Sport Performance

Biomechanical Spectrum of Human Sport Performance PDF Author: Redha Taiar
Publisher: MDPI
ISBN: 3039363964
Category : Science
Languages : en
Pages : 356

Book Description
Writing or managing a scientific book, as it is known today, depends on a series of major activities, such as regrouping researchers, reviewing chapters, informing and exchanging with contributors, and at the very least, motivating them to achieve the objective of publication. The idea of this book arose from many years of work in biomechanics, health disease, and rehabilitation. Through exchanges with authors from several countries, we learned much from each other, and we decided with the publisher to transfer this knowledge to readers interested in the current understanding of the impact of biomechanics in the analysis of movement and its optimization. The main objective is to provide some interesting articles that show the scope of biomechanical analysis and technologies in human behavior tasks. Engineers, researchers, and students from biomedical engineering and health sciences, as well as industrial professionals, can benefit from this compendium of knowledge about biomechanics applied to the human body.

Performance Assessment in Strength and Conditioning

Performance Assessment in Strength and Conditioning PDF Author: Paul Comfort
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351839047
Category : Sports & Recreation

Book Description
It is an essential skill for any strength and conditioning coach to be able to reliably assess the physical performance of their athletes and communicate the results and their implications to performers and coaches, alike. Performance Assessment in Strength and Conditioning is the first textbook to clearly and coherently suggest the most appropriate and reliable methods for assessing and monitoring athletes’ performance, as well as including detailed sections on testing considerations and the interpretation and application of results. The book explores the full range of considerations required to reliably assess performance, including questions of ethics and safety, reliability and validity, and standardised testing, before going on to recommend (through a comparison of field- and laboratory-based techniques) the optimal methods for testing all aspects of physical performance, including: injury risk jump performance sprint performance change of direction and agility strength power aerobic performance body composition Closing with a section on interpreting, presenting and applying results to practice, and illustrated with real-life case study data throughout, Performance Assessment in Strength and Conditioning offers the most useful guide to monitoring athlete performance available. It is an essential text for upper-level strength and conditioning students and practitioners alike.
