Publisher: Harper Collins
ISBN: 0062098284
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 257

Book Description
Diana Butler Bass, one of contemporary Christianity’s leading trend-spotters, exposes how the failings of the church today are giving rise to a new “spiritual but not religious” movement. Using evidence from the latest national polls and from her own cutting-edge research, Bass, the visionary author of A People’s History of Christianity, continues the conversation began in books like Brian D. McLaren’s A New Kind of Christianity and Harvey Cox’s The Future of Faith, examining the connections—and the divisions—between theology, practice, and community that Christians experience today. Bass’s clearly worded, powerful, and probing Christianity After Religion is required reading for anyone invested in the future of Christianity.

Starting a New Church

Starting a New Church PDF Author: Ralph Moore
Publisher: Gospel Light Publications
ISBN: 0830729666
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 266

Book Description
According to the author perhaps our greatest responsibility is to evangelize our own generation. Yet established churches are not able to do that. In fact, rising generations of Americans live in ignorance of Jesus Christ and have no moral absolutes. Aggressive church planting, the author believes, is the answer to the problem, because new churches focus on the needs of each new generation and present biblical truth in the cultural context that best reaches those people. The objectives of this book are to lay down the challenge to consider becoming a church planter while at the same time screen out wishful thinking and focus on the practical challenges of church planting. This authoritative and edgy message is the next thing in evangelism.

Pages : 160

Book Description
God guides our witness and our walk... Follow Dr. Jeremiah through the book of Acts in a chapter-by-chapter study that will help you understand what it meant to the people at the time it was written, and what it means to Christians today. In the book of Acts, we have a record of the most fertile period of outreach in the history of Christianity. Churches were planted near and far as Jesus' followers proclaimed the message of Christ. Luke's record in Acts reveals that God places a premium on the spread of the gospel. He blesses our efforts to make disciples of all nations, one person at a time, and sends us His Spirit to guide our words, give us wisdom, and bolster our courage. We also learn that God is with us even during times of persecution and opposition--and He uses those times to sharpen us and make us effective instruments for His work. Each of this study's twelve lessons is clearly organized to include: Getting Started: An opening question to introduce you to the lesson. Setting the Stage: A short reflection to explain the context of the study. Exploring the Text: The Scripture reading for the lesson with related study questions. Reviewing the Story: Questions to help you identify key points in the reading. Applying the Message: Questions to help you apply the key ideas to their lives. Reflecting on the Meaning: A closing reflection on the key teachings in the lesson. —ABOUT THE SERIES— The Jeremiah Bible Study Series captures Dr. David Jeremiah's forty-plus years of commitment in teaching the Word of God. In each study, you'll gain insights into the text, identify key stories and themes, and be challenged to apply the truths you uncover to your life. By the end of each study, you'll come away with a clear and memorable understanding of that Bible book. Each study also contains a Leader's Guide.

My experience indicates that the gift of God within you will create space for your vision, and your vision will create space for the gift of God within you. Each visionary leader endowed by God with the capacity to hear from God in order to comprehend and properly carry out vision. God endows His leaders with wisdom and judgment, enabling them to determine how, when, and what decisions to make. Because the Lord appointed me sovereignly to the work, He also bestowed upon me the wisdom to know what to do and when to accomplish it. The only way vision may be fully realized is for God's designated leader to completely devote his or her life to Christ's sovereign rulership. Preparation and pruning of my heart were critical components of being prepared for the dependence of what God had in store for me. Pioneering construction in uncharted area should be undertaken with the grace and wisdom that come from complete reliance on God and trust in His capacity to keep His promises in and to us.

The Mystery and Miracle of New Birth

The Mystery and Miracle of New Birth PDF Author: Uche C. Ekeh
Publisher: NewBookPublishing.com
ISBN: 1939748860
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 92

Book Description
Redemption for all of humanity has been made available to all through one Man—Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free and unmerited gift to man from the throne of grace. Nonetheless, the price of the cross was, indeed, costly. A true relationship with God— through—Jesus Christ involves more than following a “free-style” doctrine. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God” (Jn. 3:3). The immediate goal of being born-again is to see the Kingdom of God. Yet, there is an issue of blindness among believers that must be resolved. It is not enough be saved, join a church, or even to become a missionary, although these are noble things. Undeniably, there is a distinct journey for each individual in Christ, but one thing that applies to all Christians is the need for obedient adherence to the principles in the Scriptures. While some may practice a permissive theology, the true sons and daughters of God ought not to “cherry-pick” through the Scriptures to find what they are willing to apply in their own lives. Reject one part of the Word of God and you must reject it all—or else—embrace it all and live it! The institutional church, with its numerous denominations, has no soul to be transformed, but each believer does. Jesus died to save individual believers not denominational entities. God adopts common individuals and they become His unique sons and daughters. The Mystery and Miracle of New Birth is for believers who desire to know and practice sound biblical doctrine—because doctrine matters.
