Optimal Inventory Modeling of Systems

Optimal Inventory Modeling of Systems PDF Author: Craig C. Sherbrooke
Publisher: Springer Science & Business Media
ISBN: 140207865X
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 350

Book Description
Most books on inventory theory use the item approach to determine stock levels, ignoring the impact of unit cost, echelon location, and hardware indenture. Optimal Inventory Modeling of Systems is the first book to take the system approach to inventory modeling. The result has been dramatic reductions in the resources to operate many systems - fleets of aircraft, ships, telecommunications networks, electric utilities, and the space station. Although only four chapters and appendices are totally new in this edition, extensive revisions have been made in all chapters, adding numerous worked-out examples. Many new applications have been added including commercial airlines, experience gained during Desert Storm, and adoption of the Windows interface as a standard for personal computer models.

Problems & Solutions in Inventory Management

Problems & Solutions in Inventory Management PDF Author: Dinesh Shenoy
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3319656961
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 285

Book Description
This book presents a compilation of over 200 numerical problems and solutions that students can use to learn, practice and master the Inventory Control and Management concepts. Intended as a companion to any of the standard textbooks in Inventory Control and Management and written in simple language, it illustrates very clearly the steps students need to follow in order to solve a given problem. It also explains which solution methodologies can be used under which circumstances. Offering an ideal one-stop resource for mid-level engineering and business students who have taken Inventory Management or a related subject as an elective, this book is the only one students will ever need to prepare and gain confidence for their examinations in this subject.

Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing

Innovative Mobile and Internet Services in Ubiquitous Computing PDF Author: Leonard Barolli
Publisher: Springer
ISBN: 3030222632
Category : Technology & Engineering
Languages : en
Pages : 950

Book Description
This book highlights the latest research findings, methods and techniques, as well as challenges and solutions related to Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing (UPC). In this regard, it employs both theoretical and practical perspectives, and places special emphasis on innovative, mobile and internet services. With the proliferation of wireless technologies and electronic devices, there is a rapidly growing interest in Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing (UPC). UPC makes it possible to create a human-oriented computing environment in which computer chips are embedded in everyday objects and interact with the physical world. Through UPC, people can remain online even while underway, thus enjoying nearly permanent access to their preferred services. Though it has a great potential to revolutionize our lives, UPC also poses a number of new research challenges.

Fuzzy Multi Item Inventory Model with Deterioration and Demand Dependent Production Cost Under Space Constraint: Neutrosophic Hesitant Fuzzy Programming Approach

Fuzzy Multi Item Inventory Model with Deterioration and Demand Dependent Production Cost Under Space Constraint: Neutrosophic Hesitant Fuzzy Programming Approach PDF Author: Satya Kumar Das
Publisher: Infinite Study
ISBN:
Category : Mathematics
Languages : en
Pages : 14

Book Description
In this paper, we have developed a multi-objective inventory model with constant demand rate, under the limitation on storage of space. Production cost is considered in demand dependent and the deterioration cost is considered in average inventory level dependent. Also inventory holding cost is dependent on time.

A Multi-Item Inventory Model for Combat Stores Ships

A Multi-Item Inventory Model for Combat Stores Ships PDF Author: Charles Floyd Taylor (Jr)

Book Description
The inventory model currently used by Combat Stores Ships (AFS'S) is described and criticized. A simplified procedure for treating essentiality is presented. A multi-item inventory model was developed which minimizes the expected value of essentiality weighted units short, subject to a constraint on total investment. With only slight modification, the model can be made to minimize the expected value of essentiality-weighted requisitions short. In tests using actual AFS demand data, the proposed model was compared to the current model and found to be markedly superior; specifically, the model was much less expensive to operate (in terms of investment levels) for fixed levels of performance (in terms of essentiality-weighted units short and in terms of line item effectiveness). At the 95% line item effectiveness level, for example, the proposed model required less than one third the investment required by the current model. An important by-product of the analysis was the discovery that AFS inventory demand conforms closely to a mixed Bernoulli/exponential probability distribution. (Author).
