Book Description
Excerpt from A Memory Review of Prophetic Interpretation: The Antichrist Etc To show that I have not rushed into print without first counting the cost - likely to be very serious - judging from the fate of all others before me who have dared to run athwart the preconceived ideas and "traditions of the elders" in all matters pertaining to religion, especially that of the Bible, the only perfect standard of love, truth and righteousness, I will state as briefly as possible my reasons for doing so. I am now in my 63rd year. I exhausted every conceivable method of trying to get someone more capable than myself to do this work, which I believe pertains to the most important subjects that have ever entered the mind of man, viz: "The Second Coming of Christ" and ''the Time of the End," as partially explained in "The Prophetic Interpretations" of P. S. G. Watson, published by "The Baptist Publishing Co.," of St. Louis, in 1880. His home town was Turnersville, Texas. He is now deceased and his book, so far as it has been possible to learn, obsolete, or out of print. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Six Letters on Dr. Todd's Discourses on the Prophecies Relating to Antichrist in the Apocalypse (Classic Reprint)

Book Description
Excerpt from Six Letters on Dr. Todd's Discourses on the Prophecies Relating to Antichrist in the Apocalypse Another reason why I mention the origin of these Letters is, that if the subject had been chosen by myself, it would probably have been a larger subject than a single volume of a single writer of the literal school. The smallness of the subject is not, however, without advantage; since it will, I think, enable those who may read these Letters to see that it is possible to demonstrate the futility of the leading futurist interpretation of the Apocalypse, and the com plete incompetency of its author, without the aid of any general arguments on the principles of prophetic interpretation, or any exposition of the inconsistency of the literal interpreters among themselves. Elements of Prophetical Interpretation (Classic Reprint)

Elements of Prophetical Interpretation (Classic Reprint) PDF Author: J. W. Brooks

Book Description
Excerpt from Elements of Prophetical Interpretation I ought likewise to apologize for some inadvertencies and repetitions which will be found in the work. These must be placed to the account of the large demands which have been made upon my time from other quarters during its progress, and which have frequently not only distracted my attention, but drawn largely, I fear, upon your patience and that of the much respected publishers of the work. And after all, my dear friend, I cannot but feel, that you have entrusted this important work to very feeble hands; and that the reader will not only speedily discover this, but marvel that you have not rather undertaken it yourself. Had I been aware, indeed, before I was well advanced in it, that your Practical Remarks on the Prophecies would have been so greatly enlarged as they have been subsequently in your Practical Guide, I should altogether have declined the undertaking, and have urged you instead to have still more largely extended that publication; which I am persuaded would have been far more acceptable and instructive to the religious public, than any thing that can be advanced by me. The Antichrist

The Antichrist PDF Author: Joseph Roth
Publisher: Peter Owen Publishers
ISBN: 0720614341
Category : Fiction
Languages : en
Pages : 149

Book Description
Long out of print in English, this dizzying hybrid of novel, essay, and polemic has less to do with religion than with what Roth sees as the disintegrating moral fabric of the modern world Written while Roth was in exile from Germany and his native Austria following the rise of Nazism, this work was composed in cafés across free Europe after all his works in German went up in flames. Such events no doubt influence the apocalytic tones of The Antichrist's protaganist, J.R., a journalist hired by an inscrutable media mogul hellbent on exposing evidence of the "Antichrist" throughout the world. This mission leads J.R. to authoritarian political regimes such as Red Earth (the Soviet Union) but also other poisonous terrains like The Land of Shadows (Hollywood)—it becomes all too clear that it is Roth's mission to chart the whole of civilization's slide into moral and political chaos. But herein lies the extraordinary strength and appeal of this work, as Roth is powerfully and even hilariously prescient. Mixing the diatribe with his trademark sardonic wit, he miraculously predicts the advent of the Holocaust, globalization, multimedia—even the paparazzi. Combining beautiful but savage writing with visual imagery out of a Coen Brothers movie, this is an invaluable addition to the Roth canon in English.
