As a consequence, the input and output for formats presented in this manual are consistent with actual Maple input and output. Explanations are provided for the generation of symbols and operators that do not appear on the standard keyboard. Any input that is executed remains in memory and can be used for future calculations. This Maple manual consists of 11 chapters. The first chapter is a general introduction to Maple that concludes with a sample application and can be studied while reading the first chapter of the accompanying Statics text. This is followed by 10 more chapters where appropriate maple solutions are presented for the sample problems in the text. Philosophy of the Text This text has been designed to be an introductory survey of the basic concepts and applied mathematical methods of nonlinear science.
