Kannada Sahitya Ranga (KSR) is the only national literary organization of its kind in the United States; it is an organization dedicated to the preservation and propagation of Kannada literature in America. KSR has focused its attention mainly on literary enthusiasts among the immigrant Kannada speaking people from India. Because of the efforts and activities of KSR, a number of people have joined hands to produce collections of writings-essays, short stories, poems and plays in Kannada and publish them on a regular basis. The biennial literary meets organized by KSR with the cooperation of different Kannada cultural associations located in different parts of the country, generally attract a number of enthusiasts to participate in panel discussions and presentations of original writings. Thus, KSR has not only been promoting the growth of Kannada but also taking Kannada literature to the doorsteps of various Kannada population centers in America. So far, KSR has successfully published several volumes in Kannada over the last twelve years and received words of praise from literary personalities in Karnataka regarding the quality and quantity of its publications.
