One of the earliest known Desjardins ancestors was Antoine Roy dit Desjardins (1635-1684) who was born in Joigny, Champagne, France. In 1665 he immigrated to New France (Quebec, Canada) and settled in Batiscan. He married Marie Major and they were the parents of one son. Antoine was murdered in 1684. One of his many descendants was Philippe Auguste Roy dit Desjardins (1862-1927) who was born in Kamouraska, Canada. In about 1882 he moved to the United States and settled in Aurora, Illinois where he married Marie Louise Malvina Roy dit Desjardins (1863-1938). They were the parents of Louis Philippe Desjardins (1885-1973) who was the father of the author. Descendants live in the United States.
