This report documents a successful flood proofing project in Goodlettsville, Tennessee (near Nashville), where 19 homes were raised-in-place. It has been prepared under the direction of the Corps of Engineers National Flood Proofing Committee as a part of its ongoing efforts to assist government agencies and property owners in understanding and using flood proofing techniques. This report provides the project background and gives a detailed description of the homes involved, the implementation procedure used, and the project costs incurred. A nonstandard approach was used that reduce administrative costs by reducing Corps of Engineers' involvement and maximized homeowner involvement and satisfaction by allowing the homeowners to control many aspects of the project.
