Excerpt from Handbook of the Beta Theta Pi in the Forty-Eighth Year of the Fraternity The lists of the members admitted within the period above described were first made up from the roll that is kept in the general secretary's office and were then submitted to the chapters for revision. The addresses and the record of distinctions were furnished by the present corresponding secretaries. Although no distinctions. Are mentioned except such as are considered important at the several colleges, never theless, in accordance with the plan of the book, more distinctions are named than would have place in a catalogue of the whole fraternity. The notes prefixed to each chapter's roll were prepared by the editor and sent to the chapters for correction. In the paragraphs regarding fraternities in general, chapters are named in the order of original foundation. In the paragraphs regarding our own chapters, the lists of corresponding secretaries, of delegates to convention, and of other oflicers are, as a matter of course, limited to the period explained above.
