Book Description
In 1997, John Stanko wrote the book A Daily Dose of Proverbs: A Practical Guide to Uncommon Wisdom for Contemporary Living. John wrote it to share his love for the book of Proverbs and encourage others to study Proverbs on a daily basis. Now John has taken that same daily devotional format, but made it even easier to study Proverbs in A Daily Taste of Proverbs. John once again chooses a verse for every day of the year, but this time includes only a few sentences of explanation, a cross reference to another book of the Bible, and questions to help you apply the material today in your life, work, family or ministry. In one quick reading, you can have a short Bible study and then revisit the study later if you have the interest and time. It's the perfect study for today's busy Christian. In other words, you can have a quick taste of Proverbs and see for yourself how good it is! With his usual transparency and insight, John helps you move through the many topics in Proverbs to find the wisdom and truth you need for life's many challenges.

Proverbs to Live By
Author: Dr. Harry Heinrichs
Publisher: Balboa Press
ISBN: 1982203943
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 380
Book Description
That we live in the Information Age is fairly evident to most. One estimate claims that on an overall average, available information is doubling every year. By comparison, it would seem at times that the rate of wisdom increase is almost stagnant. Yet for purposes of daily living, wisdom is much more important and beneficial than raw knowledge. Proverbs is the Bible’s central book of wisdom, and in the New Testament, James 1:5 tells us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who give generously to all.” Much of that wisdom is found in the pages of Proverbs, and this book, Proverbs to Live By, examines a different wise saying every day of the year.

A Proverb a Day Keeps the Devil Away
Author: Philip Ayers
Publisher: Xulon Press
ISBN: 1606478443
Category : Religion
Languages : en
Pages : 382
Book Description
A Proverb a Day Keeps the Devil Away applies the principles of God found in the Book of Proverbs to daily living. Illustrations are used to trigger the memories of its readers to past and present experiences in life; hopefully, causing the lesson of each devotion to profoundly impact the reader. These illustrations stem from relationships, home, work, play, decisions, reactions, thoughts, injustice and justice. Some are humorous and some very serious. Each one demonstrates the theme of that verse. The Book of Proverbs is as timely as time itself. Times have changed but people have not. They still face the hard issues of life: the same fears and hurts, the same temptations and sin, the same struggle with what is right and wrong, and the same questions about what role God really plays in their life. This devotional study aids its readers in getting a grip on these challenges. Philip Ayers was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on March 2nd, 1948. He is the second born of a family of five. Very early in his life, his family moved to Salem, Virginia, where he resided until he joined the United States Marine Corps at the age of seventeen. He served in the Viet Nam conflict. He was wounded three times, and was awarded the Navy Commendation Metal with Combat "V" for heroic action in the face of the enemy. Philip played quarterback for the Marine Corps' national football team, the Quantico Marines. He was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant. Philip was saved on March 30th, 1980. Jesus Christ called him to ministry in 1981. He is the pastor of a local church in Roanoke, Virginia. He brings a large pool of experience and Bible knowledge to his readers.
