I humbly dedicate this copy of the Names of all the Marriages, Baptisms and Burials, many of them being those of Eminent Persons, which have been solemnized at the Chapel of Somerset House, from 1714 to 1776, the commencement and end of the Registers. There can be no doubt the fact of the Chapel having been a Private one, and the Registers Private also, has occasioned much loss of time, and in some cases created a difficulty, in proving the Pedigrees of the parties herein named. The Chapel was shut up in 1777. It was removed to carry out improvements in 1790. The Notes between brackets will be found interesting as well as authentic; having been supplied to me by an Accurate Genealogist. A Strictly Alphabetical Index is added.
