The Caecal Folds and Fossae and the Topographical Anatomy of the Vermiform Appendix (Classic Reprint)

The Caecal Folds and Fossae and the Topographical Anatomy of the Vermiform Appendix (Classic Reprint) PDF Author: Richard J. A. Berry
Publisher: Forgotten Books
ISBN: 9781334529993

Pages : 142

Book Description
Excerpt from The Caecal Folds and Fossae and the Topographical Anatomy of the Vermiform Appendix As the vermiform appendix has, within recent years, assumed a clinical importance entirely incommensurate with its insignificents cant proportions, it has seemed advisable to investigate any anatomical problems which may throw light upon such a treacherous disease as appendicitis. The present work is an attempt to solve, and to simplify the description of the caecal folds and fossae, and therefore indirectly the relations of the vermiform appendix. The pericaecal folds and fossae may be of interest only to the anatomist, but there can be no question as to the practical signifi cance to the surgeon of the retro-colic fossae. An appendix lying in one or other of these fossae, may not only predispose to appendicitis, but may preclude the re moval of such an appendix.
