We have it on the authority of Christ Himself that He came into the world to be at once the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and that He left it to His Church to carry on the work which He began. It is, therefore, and must ever be the office of the Church to hold Him up to the end of time as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. In order to manifest Christ as the Way to God, the Church is called upon to be itself the commonwealth of righteousness, the light of the world, the reflection of Him who is the true Light.
