Book Description
"Effective school leadership is a topic that concerns educational professionals across the United States. Having a clear understanding of how researchers define the topic of effective leadership could help any administrator, teacher, or parent understand how a school operates. Furthermore, it is important to understand that teachers and principals have different ideas about what constitutes effective leadership at a school. This research study examines the Job Performance Effective Leadership (JPEL) survey as a method for evaluating effective leadership at secondary schools. In addition, this research study opened the door for how teachers and principals viewed effective educational leadership in south Mississippi schools. Findings indicate that teachers thought strictly of what was best for students in the classroom. Principals thought from a leadership perspective about the management of the school in terms of what was best for everyone in the school climate"--Abstract from thesis.

Teachers' Perceptions of Their Principals' Leadership Styles
Author: Marty A Cosby
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category :
Languages : en
Pages : 134
Book Description
This quantitative case study examined teacher perceptions within one rural, public East Tennessee school district of principal leadership styles based upon Kouzes and Posner's five domains: challenge the process, enable others to act, encourage the heart, inspire a shared vision, and model the way to determine if a dominate domain existed within teacher perception of the principal's leadership style. Principals who understand the effectiveness and impact that different leadership styles have upon the school environment, specifically teacher perceptions, generally identify with a particular style allowing the creation of a positive educational environment (Rowland, 2008). Teacher understanding of principals' leadership styles increased self-awareness and job satisfaction the teacher achieved. Effectively decreasing the chances of teacher burnout and job-related stress (Meador, 2016).
