Expert trainer and facilitator Kimberly Devlin has designed interactive half-day, one-day, and two-day workshops to develop the essential skills of facilitating meetings that inspire, engage, and get results. Complete with all the activities, handouts, assessments, and presentation slides you will need to accelerate learning, these programs make planning your next workshop easy, whether you are new to facilitation or a seasoned pro. About the Series The ATD Workshop Series is written for trainers by trainers, because no one knows workshops as well as the practitioners who have done it all. The Handbook of Communication Training
Author: J Wallace
Publisher: Routledge
ISBN: 1351735349
Category : Business & Economics
Languages : en
Pages : 605
Book Description
Communication remains a significant topic for job acquisition, development, and advancement. As such, there are no shortage of classes, seminars and books written on the subject. However, there are few designed for the corporate consultant that are not aligned with some proprietary system, traditional academic classrooms, or author’s speculation. These tend to be either inaccessible, questionable in their content, or specifically aligned with the producers’ interests. So where can the Communication trainers and consultants go to focus on fundamental touchstone research and practices? The Handbook of Communication Training is a powerful template, and first of its kind, for communication practitioners and academicians who wish to strengthen their professional capabilities. It also acts as a guide and standard for consumers and clients of these services. The chapters within are an outgrowth of the National Communication Association’s Training & Development Division’s desire to provide guidance, structure, and support for members and non-members alike. It is specifically targeted at those pursuing best practices regarding communication consulting, coaching, teaching and training. The 7 Best Practices presented in this book represent capabilities that are foundational to the effective transfer of communication promotion and skill enhancement. As such, these practices, and supporting chapters, should appeal to novice and experts alike.

Peer-to-peer Training Facilitator's Guide
Author: Michele N. Costanza
Publisher:
ISBN:
Category : Learning
Languages : en
Pages : 96
Book Description
The peer-to-peer (P2P) training approach involves small groups of people from similar social groupings, who are not professional teachers, helping each other to learn. The P2P approach has great potential for rapidly identifying emerging lessons learned and integrating them into wide-reaching Army training. The present research identified the instructional principles and best practices for P2P from academia, industry, and the military supporting effective P2P training and incorporated them into a Soldier-friendly facilitator?s guide. A formative evaluation was conducted with Soldiers using the guide to prepare and conduct group discussions for a face-to-face group setting and a distributed group setting where Soldiers were linked via video teleconference. One group of Soldiers served as ?facilitators? and used the facilitator?s guide to prepare and lead discussions with other Soldiers who served as ?learners.? Feedback on the guide was mostly positive with Soldiers indicating that the guide provided an appropriate amount of information and a usable format and tools for structuring and fostering group discussions. Ongoing efforts to transition P2P methods into Army training are discussed.

Geriatric Palliative Care
Author: R. Sean Morrison
Publisher: Oxford University Press
ISBN: 0199747946
Category : Medical
Languages : en
Pages : 461
Book Description
Geriatric Palliative Care covers a broad spectrum of issues characterizing care near the end of life for older adults. Beginning with the social and cultural context of old age and frailty, this volume details specific aspects of palliative care relevant to particular disorders (e.g. cancer, strokes, dementia, etc.) as well as individual symptoms (e.g., pain, fatigue, anxiety, etc.). Communication between care-givers and patients, in a variety of settings, is also discussed. The theme of this book is that palliative care is the best approach to the care of chronically ill and frail elderly because of its focus on: quality of life; support for functional independence; and the centrality of the patient's values and experiences in determining the goals of medical care. Indeed, Geriatric Palliative Care provides a comprehensive medical reference for all clinicians who care for older adults.
